We had two great finals in two different sports.

We had two incredibly close finals on the same day, in the same country, in the same city. When was the last time something like that happened?

 

Even some of the situations were similar in nature and decided by luck and clutchness(or lack thereof). 

 

Federer blowing 2 championship points of his Serve. With the over throws when requirement was 9 off 3. 

 

Then the tiebreak at 12-12. In Cricket, the super over after match being tied etc. 

Everything was down to the wire.

 

NZ were the better team today and deserved to win. Federer was the better player today, and deserved to win.

 

But sadly not to be. Such is life. Full of heartbreaks. I don't know about u guys, but I need a break from sports in general. Such loses are devastating when u support a player/sport.

Fed blew 2 match points again and won 14 more points still lost !! 

Congrats to Novak and England though ,no hard feeling but thinking that sports god have been very cruel today!

Exactly the devastating part. Fed blowing 2 championship points. NZ almost there with 9 off 3 to defend and then the overthrows etc.

 

Double Devastation. Even now I'm still heartbroken and shuddering thinking about it. It'll go away in time but, cruel matches. Great matches but cruel. If the results had been more straightforward/one dimensional with the same scoreline than it would've been less heartbreaking but the ups and downs, luck, missed chances etc were difficult to watch .

Although it's sad that there had to be a "winner" and a "loser", the real winners were the two sports. cricket and tennis

A great period for me. The teams that I wanted to do well did well:

 

• 2018 France 
• 2019 MI (Wolves), Raptors, and now Eng (NZ was #2)
• Support team Ind but did not see phattu cricket in ODIs leading to a cup

They lost because of a stupid tiebreak rule implemented this year. Which potentially ruined a great final at the end. Who knows what would've happened had they kept on going.

at least they didn't get asses whooped by a no. 20-30 player, which is the exact analogy of what happened to pak when they played WI.

Both games had recent rule changes that robbed my favorites of their wins..

At least in Wimbledon, Djokovic won the match fair and square. He deserved it.

But England didn't even win. They got the WC awarded to them due to some stupid ICC rules which make zero sense and are very likely to be changed in the next tour.

it's ICC. even if they didn't invent "stupid", they certainly perfected it.

I just found out Williamson and Federer share the same birthdate as well. Which makes it even more spookier and the similarities of situations are uncanny.

Unreal stuff happened yesterday in both sports. Great if you are an England-Djokovic fan, but absolutely heartbreaking if you are a Federer-NZ fan.

That's always the case almost everywhere in the world. Djokovic is always the third wheel behind Fed and Nadal. But I can see why he's not liked sometimes. He behaves fake at times, desperately wanting to be liked. And sometimes whining when things don't go his way, as shown in the French Open SF last month. So its incident like those where Djokovic's popularity will never rise. He's known as the villain who came and dominated when the other two fan bases were high on popularity.
