Have you watched it yet? Looks like I will pay to watch it on the big screen this time, like pre-Covid times. Last was 1917. I meant the movie 1917, not that old :phehe:

Booked to check 007 out on Oct 7th at 7 PM ... First day, first show in Canada

If possible try to catch the film in real IMAX ... I will be checking the film out in UltraAVX, which would have a relatively large screen and a superb audio system

The difference b/w real IMAX (1570) and Digital IMAX:

A week to go for its release in Canada, can't wait ... Below are my expectations:

  • NTTD be better than at least Quantum of Solace and SPECTRE
  • Showcase a memorable action sequence. The last memorable or extraordinary action sequence in a Bond film for me was the parkour chase in Casino Royale (one of the best action films of all time). Before that we had the tank chase in GoldenEye and Backseat Driver in Tomorrow Never Dies
  • Ana de Armas light up the screen

I take it for granted that the cinematography, background score, etc. would be top notch.

@zen  watched few reviews .. whether NTD is a family ( sentimental / emotional ) movie ? :hmmm:

Many Craig Bond films have emotional moments.

If you read/watch the reviews make sure that they are spoiler free.

Sallu had produced and acted in a 2005 movie called Lucky: No time for love.

This title 'no time to die' seems to be directly copied from the Salman Khan masterpiece. If Bond doesn't acknowledge and give credits, Sallu should drag him to court.

  • From Russia with Love
  • The Spy Who Loved Me

Live

  • You Only Live Twice
  • Live and Let Die
  • The Living Daylights

Oh boy, I was so pumped up to see a new Bond film after a long time that I was cheering every scene.

Liked various nods given to films such as DRNO, OHMSS, LALD, FYEO, etc., along with books such as YOLT. Will try to do a spoiler free review later on.

After the first viewing, I would say just go and enjoy the film!

:two_thumbs_up: how many times do you plan to watch in theatres before the television premiere?

Instead of plot spoiler/review, you can probably rate out of 10,  story, action sequences

SPECTRE is probably my least favorite Bond film (like all Bond films. They are favorite or least favorite relative to each other) but I saw it 5 times in the theatres. At the moment, I only plan to watch NTTD in UltraAVX or IMAX so my viewings will be restricted to the time the film stays in UltraAVX and IMAX. I am planning for a 2nd viewing maybe next week, and will take it from there.

Ok will attempt to do that. May use some of the information available in the trailers.

Ok, attempting a relatively SPOILER free take (may include segments seen in trailers) based on the first viewings. If you are looking for a 100% SPOILER FREE review, do not read the below

Pre-title sequence: This is the best PTS of Craig Bond films. The gun barrel opens up to a segment in Norway and moves on to the action sequence in Matera (Italy) as seen in the trailers. The song by Eilish is good. The graphics/visuals during the song are interesting, a nod to Dr. No as well.

Bond in the Caribbean: Whether it is books or films, Bond in the Caribbean is usually interesting. Here too we see nods given to Dr. No and LALD. Not surprisingly, Bond in Cuba is my favorite part of the film.

Action Sequences: The 60s-70s Bond films were innovative and leaders among action films. In the 80s, we saw many memorable stunt sequences in Bond films. The 90s had the tank chase sequence in GoldenEye and the Backseat Driver in Tomorrow Never Dies. In the 21st century, the best action segments were in Casino Royale, which is also one of the best action films of all time. In No Time to Die, we have an aged Bond and the action sequences account for that to bring out some high-intensity action sequences where the bad guys are going all out and Bond is using his wits/gadgets. In the PTS and as seen in trailers, we see the brilliantly done Aston Martin and bike chase sequences. Even before the Aston showcases its talent, we find the bad guys shooting cooly at the bulletproof glass knowing that it would eventually break. The action segment in Matera is both cool and with high intensity. In the trailers, we also see a few men walking down from the top of a building, which looks nice on the big screen. The action segments in Cuba have humor blended. Another major action sequence takes place in Norway which gives a horror film vibe with gunmen coming out from nowhere like Zombies. In these action sequences, No Time to Die goes back in time to those cutting-edge earlier Bond films elements while keeping the age of Bond and the advanced capabilities of the villains in mind.

Background score: A thumbs up to Hans Zimmer, who pays tribute to On Her Majesty's Secret Service and builds a Dr. No type of vibe in the Caribbean segment.

Story:  The film is around 3 hours, allowing the story to be told in episodes, where one episode leads to the next. The last segment of the film is inspired by the poison garden segment in the book You Only Live Twice. I always wondered how that would be portrayed in film - NTTD provides that answer while giving it a modern touch.

Acting: The length of the film allows various characters, esp. on Team Bond, to be developed better. Daniel Craig goes through various emotions. Watching Craig as Bond is like watching Amitabh Bachchan playing Bond. Safin has a relatively limited role but when you make the connection to the book YOLT, it is well done.

Gadgets: There is the vintage Aston Martin with modern gadgets and safety features. The folding glider + submarine is interesting. Both of them are on the trailers.

Future tech: Nanobots :fear1:

One thing that I could change: Probably the last few moments on the poison garden island at the end of the film. The end is nicely handled and the filmmakers' (and Craig) choice, but if given the option, I would tweak it.

Overall, I would say that Craig's era ends on a high. Now the wait for not only a new Bond film but also a new Bond begins ...

My first viewing was in UltraAVX which I tend to prefer over digital IMAX in my area. Booked the 2nd viewing for next week in IMAX in a different area where IMAX is said to be good. Let's see how it goes
