Who has vettori selected based on social media speed gun?  Because it is still a sport that is played with a certain setup.

Every team uses speed guns but they don't select players based on some social media posts.

What's social media speed guns? These are proper speed guns that are used to measure speed even in baseball. Using speed gun to identify right talent is a great way to create fast bowling pool.

I meant social media posts. Yes they are proper speed guns . yes it is one of the tools  and I bet every team uses those tools.

When there are so many Domestic teams it is hard to Propagate and implement a thought/idea.

India's domestic cricket set-up is such BCCI can not ask state teams to play certain type of player; as its hard for all the teams to find those kind of players.

At intl. level I personally do not care what the speed gun reads, all that should mater is are they at the peak of their ability and skills or not and have some sort of x-factor.

But at domestics proper speed guns should be put in place and the bowlers who can or is bowling at good clicks (142 kmph +) should be listed and their progress should be reported back to NCA.

Then NCA should call these bowlers and put them into the programs to increase their strength and stamina and after that proper conditioning should be done.

And during off seasons these bowlers should go to NCA and work on bowling in channel at a sustained pace for a period of time.

And then NCA and IPL scouts work on their selections. Genuine quicks needs early identification and fast tracking. More you keep them at Domestic levels more they lose their pace.

Their are v.few examples of genuine quicks who has made into intl. level after an age of 25 years (24-28 is a prime of the quick bowler )

Why NCA and IPL not domestic teams/setups ?- At domestic level teams tries to win  as this attracts few sponsors and brings title for the team.

In India at non-international grounds there is v.little help for a quick bowler, and teams prefer to get military medium pacer over genuine quicks as the home teams can have green top, under prepared wkts where even an ordinary spinner can take wickets.

If you put yourself into the shoes of a domestic team's captain you would also pick a 2 medium pacer (who in theory bat a bit and bowl longer spells )and 3 spinners. plus for a high pace bowler you need a v.good wkt keeper (which is always overlooked when discussing abt having high pace bowler in the team) who can dive around and save runs behind the wkts (owing to wayward line or unexpected bounce) and take sharp catches..

There are not many wkt keepers in domestic circuit who are athletically good and are good batters

If a domestic team has a decent batting line-up and run of the mill fast bowlers, they can win cups/trophies in domestic circuit-Mumbai, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and now Saurashtra are good examples of this. So there is no point for a captain to deviate from a well proven formula.

Someone can even make a good case for all spin attack.

The bowler you posted..Ravi Sharma..proving difficult for Finn Allen..

I found his latest video below that..

https://www.instagram.com/p/CkLXcelhUvL/

Wow !  Consistently hitting 145 k to 151 k.

And it's not just the pace but Ravi Sharma has a very strong action and will extract a lot of life out of pitches. Ball release is probably good too

Which state is he from ?

What's his age ?

I hope bcci can create a rule or something for ipl franchises..to pick 2 145+ raw pace bowlers in their setup..who have good potential and keep grooming them..and they can play them if they seem good enough without deducting their purse..

Atleast that way we can have 20 fast bowlers groomed under good setups..

…..not just net bowlers only..

At IPl level this has to be organic and reward based thing which bcci is already doing by giving 1 lac inr for fastest ball, the bowler just need to bowl 1 fastest bowl per match.

Developing real quicks should be upto the NCA and then IPL scouts to work on selections.

It has become v. obvious to foreign IPL coaches that top wkt takers in Ind Domestic are barely medium pacers and no good at IPL level so they have been looking into other avenues- Social media has been of some help plus working with domestic players and private academies to find out new fast bowling talent.

The issue is IPL teams can call them into the camps and can speed check them but for its very hard to vouch/bid for unknown entity. No one can take that risk, speeds has to be followed by some domestic performance. IPL teams can req. state teams to give more chances to a player  who is already in their state team's set-up but for a bowler outside of the system  its not possible- N. Saini (supposibly 145kmph+ bowler)is an example of this. Gambhir had to virtually fight with DDCA to get him into the team

That's why Ind domestic needs speed gun and proper program from NCA.

I agree and in an ideal world they should do their job which they are not doing well.

I feel IPL teams may do it more due to accountability and laser sharp focus..

Ipl franchise can do whatever in their hands..scout them..train them..get them match ready and play them per potential..even IPL exposure will be good to see ceiling for these players..

after that it becomes BCCIs job what to do about those unearthed talents..and how to groom then further..

Ab Inko Khana paros k do..fir kya ye bolenge ki khila bhi do..haha

He is from Rajasthan

Rajasthan is producing many fast bowlers, but lack of space won't let him play.
Aniket, Tanveer, Khaleel, Deepak Chahar, Nagarkoti are first
then Ashok Sharma, Akash Singh, this Ravi guy.
Plus they have Rahul Chahar and Ravi Bishnoi as 2 spinners.....no space for upcoming bowlers.

Another serious talent u19 Salaudeen is coming up too. He missed last u19 wc due to injury. Otherwise, he was a certain starter. Top wicket taker in Vinoo Mankad trophy last season.
