a Lt.General sentenced to 14 years in jail. apparently they sold nuke secrets to CIA.

A little bit of clarity here:  CIA has no use for nuke secrets from Pakiland. It’s like saying someone from Mogadishu was hanged for selling classified automotive technology to Germany.

CIA most likely paid him to disclose info on who Pakistan is selling nuclear knowhow to, where their nukes are positioned etc.

Turks could be after pak for that reason . That whole coming together for Ummah seems nonsensical to me.

Its nakedly obvious that Turkey is supporting Pakistan at UN etc because it wants nukes.

There are rumours that the poor state of pakistani economy is heavily hitting the military industrial complex which funds the lavish lifestyles of pakistan military officers.

Naturally it means that more people are prone to say selling secrets to the cia or non indian foreign intelligence agencies

General Bajwa’s extension was just quashed by Pakistani SC. I’m guessing a lot of their generals are pissed at Bajwa for continuing.

These are just rumors - the military honchos are extremely well insulated from the economic chaos that Pakistan regularly finds itself in.

Think about it - they get bungalows with staff, household needs are 'bought' within bases and cantonments at subsidized prices, they relax in military owned golf clubs, and their retirement bonuses are given out in real estate, not Pakistani rupees.  Real estate, like gold, is completely insulated from inflation and currency fluctuations.  ALL military officers are given land when they retire, land worth millions.  Raheel Shareef apparently got choice urban land worth 1.3 Pakistani billion rupees.  This is the big carrot that ensures that most officers stay loyal to the top brass.  The PakMil mafia provides cradle to grave career and financial security for its officer corps.  And this is completely insulated from the perpetually chaotic and crisis struck Pakistani economy.

Add to this, most top brass automatically get to move into top echelons of "upper management" in the private sector, if they aren't connected enough to do so in the hundreds of "Fauji Foundation" businesses that are owned and operated by the army directly.

Long story short, this is why the Pakistani government keeps making poor choices on foreign policy, economy, support for terrorism etc - because those who control these decisions simply do not have to bear the negative consequences of their choices.  They can continue to preserve the PakMil mafia dominance of the country, continue their delusional pursuit of some sort of "balance" or victory over India.

Are you sure about this ? It’s still in their SC. If it happens Imran Khan govt will be thrown out and another coup waiting to happen.

you think Pakistan's Chief Justice can take such action without being nudged by senior Army officers. Also, an interesting thing to note is Bajwa's current tenure is only upto 29th November. If no decision comes before that, he will have no choice but to resign.

Remember something like this happened to Musharraf. You know what he did. He threw the judges out. This is Pakistan anything can happen. A lot runs on reputation in Pakistan Bajwa has good reputation because of his endeavors in the Pathan land.

Bajwa gets 6 month extension during which a resolution will be passed to give him full 3 year tenure. also, the Chief Justice is under scanner for alleged corruption now. What a banana republic :hysterical:

While i agree with the gist of what your saying, I dont think the generals will be impacted. We are talking major and up.

Its the belt of officers between major and brigadier who will be prone to be impacted. Not all can be accommodated so handsomely by land.

'Handsome' is relative.  For a major, a retirement bungalow plot in a posh "defense housing society" worth a few crores is handsome enough.  It will buy his obedience, and silence.  And loud public contributions to the myth that even educated Pakistanis take as fact - "Army is 'only' institution in Pakistan that works."  Sure if by 'works' you mean effective at enriching itself instead of doing its job.

Of course the rewards are higher depending on what position you end up achieving in the mafia.

Its actually surprising and bit impressive that the court went as far as it did.  Sure its a mess, and the stupidity of Imran and his govt has been once again put on display.  But given Pakistan's lack of rule of law, this is a reasonably good solution. While it doesn't mean that the army is coming under the jurisdiction of the elected govt, but its a small but meaningful step in that direction.  By directing parliament to come up with legislation that clarifies the process and possibilities of "extending" an Army chief's tenure, the court has given a chance to the civilian government to shift the power balance in its favor, even if slightly.  If the parliament draws up a half-decent piece of legislation, future COAS "King-Emperors" won't find it too easy to extend themselves.  That would be a good outcome for Pakistan.

Question I don't understand is what triggered this SC intervention in the Chief's tenure extension.  Something clearly did.
