Ridiculous shot from Kohli. Karma for being the strike hog and not sending another player. 2 low scores in two games, out both times to poor shot selection - time to put him on notice!

Lol... Time to put him on notice?? Billi ke gale me ghanti bandega kon lekin :canabis:

55 in overs 1-10, 43 in overs 11-20, 72 in overs 21-30.

ODIs saw pinch-hitting phenomenon in 90s where teams targeted first 10 overs when ball was hard. Scoring in middle overs was the challenge when ball became old and spread out fields. Since 2015 WC, teams are motoring THROUGHOUT the innings! But Indian team plays relatively safe in first 20 overs, accelerates in middle & end overs. If they lose few set batsmen in middle, their middle lower order often fails to accelerate at end - partly because of lack of match practise as top 3 play risk free cricket at the top.

They need to take more risks in first 20 as well...those extra 20-30 runs are difference between 320 (chaseable score today) and 350 (winning score)...ideally we shld target 360+ on flat tracks to put match beyond question.  Guys like Pant, Pandya, Dube shld be kept in mix for late overs hitting. But today we dropped Dube for a nurdler like Jadhav who is now absolutely useless as part-time bowler too!

That's why we can't groom youngsters if too 2 or 3 play for their 100 till 35th over.

TBF, Rohit got to his 100 without fuss and Rahul was stuck in the 90s for a couple overs as Rohit got most of the strike. Rahul also did reasonably well in reaching 100 with minimal fuss. Hope Rohit scores big today, this is the type of situation he thrives in.

can't blame KL - this is what he has learnt from his seniors "Ensure you score 100 so u aren't dropped at the first sign of failure." CYA (Cover Your A**) in action - Iyer, pant should also do the same - make sure they stay Not Out and let others take the risks :aha:

He learnt it from coach bewda according to whom only scoring 100s keeps you in the team. Consistently scoring several 50s in a series is no good!
