Gollum Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 LOL I remember this, my maternal grandparents used to follow this every year on TV...around December, they'd be taking notes, critiquing, ringing up other oldies to discuss the day's action. Used to drive me, my dad and his dad mad, esp when there was clash with some sports event or half decent movie. Mahayuddh for TV back then, words would be exchanged, tug of war for remote....thank god for internet streaming now . coffee_rules, velu and Mariyam 1 1 1
Mariyam Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 @velu LOL @ hindustani musical artist. Whatever gave you such an idea. My appreciation of Hindustani music as grown over the years. As a kid, I used to hate being dragged to all those Classical music events. Some of it grew on me, as time went by. Mainly enjoy vocals in Hindustani classical and jugalbandi. There was this time when we were invited to a Zakir Husain program. The occasion was the barsi of his guru. Zakir's brother Taufik played the mridangam in that event. Ever since I have always liked listening to it. There is this guy called Mani Karaikudi whose beats/renditions I keep listening to every now and then. But that's about all I know about Carnatic music. These are just occasional indulgences. All in all, I'm a complete Bollywood music girl. velu and FischerTal 1 1
coffee_rules Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 So, what’s funny? I have been to many rock concerts where audience are so high listening to crap metal and act like lunatics. Is that normal for you? BTW, I tried to learn Hindustani music, but couldn’t keep up . It is like yoga or meditation, takes your mind out of the mundane. Enjoy this.. Mariyam 1
