Australia couldn't find two good test batsmen while Warner and Smith were banned and lost badly to us at home. Both south Africa and New Zealand have small talent pools and the former is already on the decline and the latter's golden generation is slowly coming to an end. England are only producing T20 players and that too very few. I won't be surprised if Cricket becomes a South Asian exclusive sport with mediocre SENAW teams to only make numbers in the near future. I am ok if cricket becomes a franchise only + T20 format. I like test cricket but I can live without it. I have zoned out of ODIs which was my favorite format in the 90s because tests in the 90s sucked for the most part. So test cricket as an acquired taste happening once in a while with franchise and t20 cricket ruling cricket is ok with me. I know it is not a fashionable thing to say on a cricket forum where most of us are cricket snobs and purists but it is what it is. Look at African countries in Soccer, they are alright and are competitive but not world champion material but they still produce stars and athletes who are Box office at a franchise Level. WI can never be the force it was in 70s and 80s. Sl will always produce 2-3 talents and have fillers, Pak too produces mercurial players for T20 format who can be mercenaries at a franchise level, same goes for SA as well and in future Nzl. Afghan will never be a great test team but will always produce freak cricketers who will standout. These teams can never be all dominating across all formats ever based on their cricket boards but the top players from these countries can always legitimize franchise cricket to the next level. So that leaves test cricket for ind,Aus and Eng and May be Pak and Bangla to some extent. Norman 1

Don't think there were any bowlers from OZ or NZ who were that quick. We will see how PAK quicks are tomorrow I suppose. There's one in Afghanistan. Amir khan from pak looks quick. Nikhil_cric 1

I think cricket in Australia is in good health, their junior team and new talent coming along is quite good. They were unlucky to be "Tyagied" other day. Similarly NZL juniors are very good and even with their limited pool, will stay competitive. Not sure about SA's future as a cricket playing nation. WI is definitely improving. Pakistan will also get better in 2-3 years with improved infrastructure of their domestic circuit and FC games and PSL coming home . BD will stay like this, "not too bad", always good at under 19 level but not at senior level .

If there was no age fudging, asian U19 sides wouldn't do that well. I am sure it happens in Indian U19 too but the afghan chacha XI take it to another level

Success of SENA countries at the senior level depend a lot on their professional FC structure. Raw talent at U19 level have not always been their forte. In some years some of these countries may have a good U19 team. Average U19 teams can still give rise to good senior teams if FC structure is good. India now have the best of both worlds ... raw talent at U19 level and a professional FC structure. Edited January 31, 2020 by express bowling Mosher 1
nsareen Posted January 31, 2020 Author Posted January 31, 2020 so we have 3 asian countries in Semis in a world cup in SA!bangladesh played very well & i see themreaching the finals.. will be interesting to see Pak vs Afg match.. pak advantage is batting & quick bowling.. afg advantage is spin bowling, would depend on the kind of wicket they are playing on..Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
nsareen Posted January 31, 2020 Author Posted January 31, 2020 does anyone see any changes to team for the semis? i see our captain hasn’t performed well at all, he does have a technical problem with incoming deliveries, in two matches i’ve seen he has got out to incoming balls from the quickies, hope he makes the world cup opportunity count in the last two matches.. sushant mishra was the most successful quickie coming into the world cup, but hasn’t set the stage on fire, apart from outswimg & bouncer the lad doesn’t know anything else.. nsareen Posted January 31, 2020 Author Posted January 31, 2020 i also feel that the team has been affecteda bit by the limelight they have got & TV exposure they have got which tends to be overwhelming for kids coming from humble background... looking at so many players needing interpreters during interviews says they are all coming from a quite humble background without exposure to good quality education, nevertheless hoping they play like they have been playing coming into the world cup, they have won pretty much all the tournaments until know, losing a match here & there.i see the biggest challenge from Pakistan as they have not played them a lot & would not have video footage available until today when their match is going to be telecasted..Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk They played recently against them in Asia cup. They are very passionate about winning this. We sure have lost some world cup matches. One the epic final in SL. One in NZ when Hammad aZam at the last minute took the game away. Other one was in 2004 semi final where Biriyani the captain got himself banned because of time wasting the previous match. India lost its captain for the semi.
First class Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Pakistan team is still a mystery , not sure how good ( or bad ) they are. One thing is sure, their batting cannot be worst than 2018 edition. They have three very good batsmen in Haider, Rohail ( captain ) and Haris. Haider and Rohail have played a full FC season but both are yet to fire, just like Indian captain. Hope they will fire at right time. One fast bowler Amir Khan has been hyped to "147 kph" bowler, will see the reality tomorrow. So far Tyagi looks like is the best fast bowler and Indian opener Jaiswal and BD opener Tamim are two standout batsmen. Again, two good teams with some very good player are playing tomorrow , will know better about them after that.

Even Jaiswal was batting at a different level in list A matches. It show how good the standard is at u19 level these days.
Norman Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Afghanistan are 91/3 in 20 overs against Pakistan in the 4th QF.
Norman Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Pakistan going comfortably at 28/0 after 5 overs chasing 190.

Norman Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 I've already spotted half a dozen guys on the field that are comfortably 21+. No way this Haider Ali guy is u19. But looks a good player though.
