Lol.

Watch his dismissal. Comical. Watch his old footage. He can not play genuine pace as of now, can only bully spinners and mediocre bowlers.

He might grow and be able to play as a proper batsman, but is a hack as of now.

I would prefer a cricketer (hack according to you)  who averages of 42 and strike rate 103.

We should be able to work him out....if only we had a proper coach instead of an alcoholic cheerleader

was going to type the same thing.....some other loyal  coach instead of that  good for nothing parasite would have taken active steps  in that direction.Especially with all the technology available  it is not that difficult  but for this good for nothing drunkard.

Reality is so far Kohli defeated all mediocre teams in odis in his captaincy. This is first time he is facing such a strong aus side, when they are playing all their main bowlers and most of their main batter baring Maxwell. That's why some of Kohli fans shouldn't have overhyped his odi victory in SA and AUs overseas as they were some damn mediocre teams. Now he is getting reality check last time also aus defeated us with their mediocre team after being 2-0 behind. Kohli has feasted on mediocre teams and some cheerleader commentators, old players and one of resident ICFer hyped him goat captain....bwahhahaa

Iyer has pluses to be good no.4 , He can hit any current spinner when needed , which is absolutely required at 4 since you are bound to face 20 overs of spin in 15-40 overs phase most of the time . Against India, most opposition spinners bowl run denying lines and try to then get them out . Hence need an enforcer.  He has good skill rotating the strike too.

However not convinced about his game against Pace and the most disappointing part is  , this was evident even 2 years back too but cannot see any improvement even now.

- Still plays unconvincingly the hooks without ever keeping it down . If you cannot play hook , then at least ensure  you do not get out , make a plan to get a single on that ball .

- Not seen much of pull shots .

- Pokes at deliveries around off stump - This a wicket taking ball against him most of the time , that s why he is not in contention in tests.

When he gets good accurate pace stuff around off stump , the predictable shot attempted is the square drive .

There is much to learn from Virat , Kane Williams  how they play such deliveries in ODIs.  Play it towards thirdman for a single and rotate strike .

It is up to him and batting coach , how they address this . If he can't overcome this , soon we will see every team bringing their pacers back as soon as he comes to crease and his big PLUS of his game against Spin is nullified .

He should learn to ride out these pacers spell and then play his normal game as spinners will have to come back .

If there is no improvement  vs pace , then may be better to invest in Mayank & Gill at 4 , Both seem to have a better game against pace and better defence. Mayank has proven it in Tests and also has shots .

yup even i have same concern

  • in WI also brathwite n holder was putting him in discomfort with incoming balls but they didnt have pace
  • he plays across with not much of feet movement which will put him in trouble against moving ball both coming in n out
  • Also a bouncer outside off also will put him trouble
  • In one match pre match show Laxman showed clips where iyer was even in trouble against spinners bowling above 85k

It isnt only us many are feeling he has some issue

It's not about Pant, KL, Samson, Gill or any player. Kohli can't make up his mind abt his best LOI team for any significant length of time except for select few players he backs - Rohit, Bumrah, Pandya, Dhawan.

I've said many times, the stupid cuck has ADD & ADHD, probably the reason why he folds like a paper crane every time in WC KO or crucial junctures in tests (not always but far more than his fanclub would like everyone to believe) :hitler:

At no point in this match did I feel India could dominate proceedings in this match even during Dhawan and KL Rahul's partnership. This was a pancake wicket should have scored more than 300 even near 350 to stand a chance. Aussies must be given credit for superb bowling taking wickets, aggressive captaincy, having fielders inside the ring even when we were not losing wickets in clusters, bowling dot balls. and excellent fielding. How everyone including the bowlers are good fielders and dives to take a catch. Dhawan was out to a half chance grabbed and there was a direct hit run out. Such a professional unit. Compared to that, India played like amateurs and didn't have the fielding ability of a decade ago.

And when it came to chasing a tricky score, Warner and Finch found the right balance between attack and defense and didn't leave it to the next man. Such a depressing feeling when Virat got out, it reminded me of the 90s when Sachin's gone you assume India is gone. It was a reality check for the bowlers too. Bumrah's struggles against left handers reseurfaced and Kuldeep created chances but they played and learnt through the game about how to pick his wrong ones. This should be the end of Thakur. Sure he can slam SL bowlers and take their wickets but struggles against a top team. Jaddu is also questionable after this performance. He had a great 2019 but reality came crashing down yesterday. Also a reality check for Iyer, Pant. 258 is the record partership for any wicket and it came from their openers against us
