You are not going to get middle order wickets with Jadeja. So a player who can make 20-25 runs in ODI is sacrificed for a wicket taker. We all know what happened between 2015-2017 for the same scenario before.

In the last year or so, Kuldeep isn't been great in picking up wickets as well and his economy rate has been high. The reason the TM had to split that partnership during the WC and after. Chahal has been sligtly better than Kuldeep but despite that the latter has received more changes in ODIs since Jan 2019.

Kuldeep has zero competition. He is an out and out wicket taker. You should not worry about him going for runs. That is his job. But Chahal is a timid cat. Replaceable. Not Kuldeep.  Only reason they keep leaving out kuldeep is because Jadeja is a left armer too. They don't want two left arm spinners. This Jaddu's come back has really screwed up Kuldeep's chances.

Kuldeep has been picking wickets at 37 since the start of 2019 at a economy rate of 5.42. Even though I agree that Jadeja isn't the solution but again, increase in Economy rates and not picking up wickets at the same rate has affected Kuldeep's selection. Also with no Pandya and Dubey being a dud, India are sticking with Jadeja due to the requirement for an all rounder. Remember India started with Kuldeep-Chahal combination in the World Cup but the spinners got themselves out of the X1 through poor performances through the competition. You can't entirely blame the TM for that. If you look at their records and compare it to 2017-2018, there is a stark difference in their wicket taking ability. Kuldeep needs to work a lot on his bowling, teams have started playing him better. The only reason Kuldeep even averages 37 since 2019 is because of one game against Pakistan in the world cup and that series against New Zealand in 2019. In rest of the games he has been really poor. He was preferred in ODI series against West Indies and except for that hattrick, his performance was really poor and he got smacked around a bit by the WI batters who are known to struggle against spin.

Both have stopped getting the leg break to turn. You can't blame the TM when that's the case. Consistently getting outbowled by opposition spinners. The question is why haven't others been tried while these two are let go to find a fix for their bowling

But defensive bowler like Jadeja is not the option. We have to go back a few years to understand why we dropped Jadeja in the first place alongwith Ashwin. Kulcha  took us to top ranking with spectacular bowling in the middle overs. Did well in SA, Australia, NZ. Failed only in world cup.

Except for the initial sucess of kulcha against a SA B team couple of years ago, it has failed every where.  Windies batters hv smashed kulcha consistently in India in front of our home crowd.  Poms smashed the hell out of them too in WC.   Moreover, their batting inability only makes matter worse.   Playing kulcha will take Indian cricket 30 years backwards.   In short, kulcha is history.  Those who still think, kulcha should be played , I hv one message for them "To each, his own"

Yeah other leg spinners should also be tried.

most leggies these days don't and can't turn their leg breaks. look at bishnoi - symptomatic of both pros and cons of modern leggies.
