ShoonyaSifar Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Just 12 months ago, KulCha were looking like million dollars, having won us multiple LOI matches owning the middle overs. Both were among the top 5 bowlers gobally. Then suddenly Kohli-Shastri decided they need 'multi dimensional' players, that KulCha cannot do anything other than bowl (and win matches). Since then KulCha have been rotated worse than a Casino's Roulette Wheel. The constant shuffling had started to impact both of them early last year and since then then journey has only been further downhill. We are now at a stage where both of them do not look like even 50% of the bowlers they were. Their body language is down, the guile is missing and so many technical issues have crept up. While both Kuldeep and Chahal do deserve a lot of criticism for their individual performance, how much of the blame should the TM take for derailing them? As successful young players, would you expect to be backed or to be shunted out (like Kuldeep was) or to be benched (like Chahal)? What's the way forward? Its clearly evident both of them need game time away from the media limelight in domestic cricket (and not IPL). How long will this TM deny them that opportunity to get their form and confidence back? Or will they not stop before completely destroying two young spinners who could have easily been mainstays of our LOI lineups for years to come. Vijy and Cricwala 1 1
Stan AF Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 It all started when Captain Kohluddin ratted out kuldeep's tricks to Moeen Ali (of all people) & that too for a stupid competition like the Indian Premier league so that he can win a silly match where he'd never win the trophy. We all know what happened to kuldeep after that. AuxiliA and sriniwu 2
Amit228 Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 (edited) It has more to do with respective forms of kulcha.. & also due to hardik's injury.. As we had hardik as our seaming all rounder in the team... Making it possible for us to play kulcha together.. without sacrificing a bowling all-rounder slot at no 7.. now with hardik injured we don't have luxury of playing kulcha together (as due to lack of all rounders barring jadeja) .. u can't have jadeja( all-rounder) nd kulcha together in the team... Now coming to the form of kulcha.. it hasn't been any good of late.. kuldeep's novelty factor has worn off.. why? kuldeep relies more on his goggly to take wicket.. he doesn't have a good flipper to compliment his stock ball.. he bowls very slow i.e 70-80 kph.. this on road odi pitches allows batsmen to adjust to the turn.. (if there is any hint of spin).. a la what english batsmen did to him in worldcup.. now most batsmen can read his potent delivery i.e wrong one.. due to video analysis.. nd no one in today's term will fold Infront of kuldeep like south african's nd new zealand's batsmen did.(series prior to worldcup).. his confidence is very low of late due to his inability to pick wickets.. that's why he was dropped from worldcup starting 11 late in the tournament.. in order to be successful again he needs to re invent himself... He needs to bowl a bit faster i.e 80-90kph without loosing revolutions on the ball.. he also needs to develop a good flipper to compliment his stock balls.. most of his dismissals are accounted by googly.. if one can read his googlies by hand.. he is rendered pretty much futile.. at the pace which he bowls.. Sachinism Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Teams evaluated them more. Worked them out. Players got more comfortable. poor form Nope Kohli and Shahstri have been plotting their downfall ganeshran 1
SUMO Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 (edited) I think Kulcha will play once Hardik returns. Or, We wont even see Kulcha if we find a leggie who can bat. Edited January 30, 2020 by SUMO
putrevus Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 It is foolish to think Kulcha would have had same success thruout their careers.Ajanta Mendis retired with Odi avg of 21 and 14 in t20s but in later part of his career he never could replicate his intial success. Kuldeep has to reinvent himself, he is too slow thru air and if batsmen start attacking him, he needs to have a plan b. AuxiliA 1

This when Kuldeep was number 2/3 LOI bowlers and Chahal at number 6. If you think mindless rotation does not affect mindset and rhythm of young players and makes them insecure, I have nothing to say.
ganeshran Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Kulcha are responsible, no one else. Both have got enough chances but don't capitalise
putrevus Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Jadeja has been in and out Indian team for most of his career. But he has persevered, he played most of world cup as substitue and then came into semis and did okay, yes he is much older now. There is nothing wrong in rotating players who have played enough international cricket. It is not like they will be sitting around when they are not playing the matches. They have time to work on their issues in nets and work with bowling coach. They will be bowling to best batsmen in the country in nets also. Chahal is 29 I don't think he has much international cricket left in him.Kuldeep is young so he has time to get better and work hard on his issues.
vvvslaxman Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 Cha is derailing himself lol Kul is fine. He is still a gun bowler with great record.

cowboysfan Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 I watched the highlights, maybe its time to accept Chahal is not very good.he bowled a number of bad balls and he would have slaughtered if he had played against indian batsmen,

There was a stat Gavaskar shared in one of the match. Any time Chahal bowled at the wicket he went for less runs. Any time he went wider he got thrashed around. His timid mentality makes him bowl wider.

How can someone who bowled with such good control and guile become so bad suddenly? Both Kuldeep and Chahal look scared and mentally disoriented. From being the match winners 15 months back, they are both close to getting dropped. It's not just with KulCha. Same story with almost every young player. Better for their sake, that the captain fool drops them and lets them play at peace in domestic cricket. Losing a couple of years of int'l cricket till the time we have megalomaniacs as captain and coach will be better than losing their entire career.
ShoonyaSifar Posted February 4, 2020 Author Posted February 4, 2020 Kuldeep almost out of all the team - no place even in dead T20 rubbers, now dropped from Test squad. Some way to groom a youngster by Kohli-Shastri A once in a generation talent lost due to irrational decision by the TM in last 12-15 months vijaydude and diehardpacer 2
vvvslaxman Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 Kuldeep has zero competition. He is an out and out wicket taker. You should not worry about him going for runs. That is his job. But Chahal is a timid cat. Replaceable. Not Kuldeep. Only reason they keep leaving out kuldeep is because Jadeja is a left armer too. They don't want two left arm spinners. This Jaddu's come back has really screwed up Kuldeep's chances.
vijay50 Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 You are not going to get middle order wickets with Jadeja. So a player who can make 20-25 runs in ODI is sacrificed for a wicket taker. We all know what happened between 2015-2017 for the same scenario before.
cricketpitch Posted February 5, 2020 Posted February 5, 2020 Kuldeep's lack of form is the reason. He isn't been the same bowler he was last year. India played both in the world cup and except for couple of performances both were underwhelming. Kuldeep could not replicate his success in England from 2018 in the World Cup. India cannot afford the luxury of both these spinners in the X1 as they have been going for plenty in the ODI/T20 format. In 26 ODI matches since the start of 2019, Kuldeep has 35 wickets in 26 games at an average of 36.91 and at an economy rate of 5.42. He had a great start to his career which is the reason his overall record is still good. Kuldeep though has only played 4 T20Is in that period and has 6 wickets at 18 but at a very high economy rate of 9.08. Chahal on the other hand has had better success in ODI formats as he has taken 29 wickets in 16 games in the same period at an average of 28 but at a economy rate of 5.73. That's the reason for Kohli preferring him over Kuldeep, even though Kuldeep has played more games. In the T20Is though Chahal has been really poor with an average of 46 during the same period with just 11 wickets in 15 games at a high economy rate of 8.86. So Indian TM realised that playing both of them in the X1 means that they will go for lots of runs and if they don't pick up wickets it might end up to be a disaster in LO formats. A bowler like Jadeja gives control for Virat and he has also been picking up wickets along with runs with the bat. All this has contributed to their partnership to break. Cricspin and putrevus 1 1
