Time for him to step up his game.

Time for him to step up his game. he should .Otherwise his place in the team should be questioned.Hope both him & Pujara do well in the remaining inns of theirs in the test series. Badly need at least to draw the series 1-1. Otherwise there is no need of these experienced campaigners in the team. zen 1
zen Posted February 23, 2020 Author Posted February 23, 2020 (edited) Balls played per inning: Pujara: 106 (therefore is blunting the new ball vs. relatively fresh bowlers. will give a top order batsman bonus runs to add to his avg in SENA) Kohli: 89 Rahane: 67 Edited February 23, 2020 by zen
The Realist Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Meek. Malnourished. Mediocre. But he's vice captain so all is good. Vilander and Sandeep99 1 1
Nikola Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Idk what's point of this stat? he was considered 'sena' expert based on his performance in 2014/15 tour not 2018/19 one. He has gone downhill since then and i doubt anyone still consider him as sena expert anymore. He has been avg for pretty long time now. His last great series i will remember is SA in india where he scored two tons in match where no one else from both side could manage to do so in whole series. I used to rate him higher than kohli in test back then but who would have thought how bad he would get since then.
cricketpitch Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Wow what a thread when he has been the only batter who has shown some backbone in the first Test. He has played well and who is going to replace him? Some random 19 year old? The great SENA players in your list have not shown up on a pitch which has no demons in it. At least Rahane has still kept some hopes alive of a fight. Stop bringing some stupid stats to further your agenda. sarcastic and Ankit_sharma03 2

Like running Pant out .... he has done NADA so far .... needs to pull up his socks and do the job that he is selected to do Quote Stop bringing some stupid stats to further your agenda. I would not respond to a post such as yours (maybe a new name of an old id) but since everything is so off in it .... I guess, we are supposed to clap like you even if he averages 30 Edited February 23, 2020 by zen

Deleted_User_1 Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Short answer is no. He might stick around for a little while and then get out to a brain fart! nevada 1

I guess, we are supposed to clap like you even if he averages 30 He might be averaging in the 30's but he has done better than everyone bar Mayank in this Test. There is something called bad patch? Did Pujara not have a similar poor one in 2013-15 in overseas tours? Not everyone can keep scoring runs all the time. Even Virat who had brilliant 2013-15 and 2018-19 season in SENA has been extremely average in this series. Should we drop him as well if he fails in Australia later this year? What does that make of them? Mayank has done well but there were people in this forum who said that he needs to be dropped because he is poor against moving ball. Rahane has done well here and he has given India hope. Stop bringing up historic stats and stuff that does not have any relevance to the current situation. Running out Pant was a mistake and it is not as if he has done this all the time to bring that up as a reason to get rid of him. We need to blood young players in the team but that does not mean we get rid of all the experience we have and bring in new players in the X1.
Sandeep99 Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 This one and the next series in Australia later this year will be his last.

Of late in SENA, he plays 67 balls per inning on an avg. In this inning, he has already played 67 balls so if he plays one more ball, it would be an above average performance for him (in terms of staying power) BATSMEN R B 4s 6s SR Ajinkya Rahane*(rhb) 25 67 4 0 37.31 Hanuma Vihari(rhb) 15 70 2 0 21.42 Deleted_User_1 1
Nikola Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Gone. Should be last series for him hopefully.
zen Posted February 23, 2020 Author Posted February 23, 2020 Boult to Rahane, OUT, oh the biggie. Boult does it. This is a really good ball. Angled in, on a length, just outside off, you have got to play at it. The ball, though, seems away a touch. Only enough to take the edge and not actually miss it AM Rahane c †Watling b Boult 29 (75b 5x4 0x6) SR: 38.66 Though he did play more balls than his avg of 67.
zen Posted February 23, 2020 Author Posted February 23, 2020 Interesting, his score was closer to his avg of 30 and he also played around the avg number of balls that he plays
sandsaims Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Costed us the wicket of Pant in the 2st innings. Rahane hasn't been good enough for a while now but somehow always escapes scrutiny.
Malcolm Merlyn Posted February 23, 2020 Posted February 23, 2020 Costed us the wicket of Pant in the 2st innings. Rahane hasn't been good enough for a while now but somehow always escapes scrutiny.Rahane had a very poor 2017 and 2018.He avgd 34 and 30 respectively. He avgd 71 last year. This was his 1st test in 2020.I doubt he would be dropped anytime soon.Sent from my HD1901 using Tapatalk
zen Posted February 24, 2020 Author Posted February 24, 2020 If he plays the next test, I hope he does not drop catches
