javier26 Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 (edited) A lot of fans became overconfident that India will be one of the confirmed finalists of the Test Championship. However, after the whitewash against NZ there is a good chance that the finals could be between two Non-Asian Sides. Currently, India has played 4 Series and accumulated 360 points. With a series against England at Home and Australia ( away) remaining. The series in Australian will be their toughest assignment in the Test Championship Cycle. NZ has played 3 Series and accumulated 180 points so far. Their remaining series include one against Pakistan at home, one against WI at home and one against Bangaldesh away. It wont be far fetched to expect NZ to roll over Pakistan and WI at home and score full 240 points out of the two series. Thus, NZ could be on 180 +120 ( Against Pakistan at home) +120 ( Against WI at home) = 420 points from 5 series with one away series against Bangaldesh. So if we assume India to whitewash England at home ( unlikely because its a long series so England can manage to win or draw a Test) , India will be 360+120= 480 points from 5 series with one away series against Australia. NZ have never lost a test against Bangaldesh and have good spinners in Santner, Sodhi and Ajeez to take advantage in Asian Conditions , Bangaldesh will be without Shakib. If NZ win one Test and lose another, they score 60 points and will at 480 points tied with India or if they whitewash Bangaldesh NZ will accumulate 540 points. Hence, India will need to gain atleast 60 points during series against Australia .How will they do it? 2 wins = 60 points or 1 Win + 3 Draws = 60 points. The basic problem is that NZ have series remaining against below average sides like Pakistan, WI and Bangaldesh and they are a very good side at home. While India has series against Top sides like England and Australia, especially the Australian series is very critical considering the current form of Aussies at home. India cannot afford to get whitewashed in Australia and expect to be in the finals of Test Championship. Thats very unlikely now. Edited March 2, 2020 by javier26
Stan AF Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Yes. you're right. They can win all three remaining series and amass all the points.
Stan AF Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 A draw in a 4 match series will get you only 10 points. Only a tie gets you 15 points. To the best of my knowledge. So even if we have 4 draws(which is unlikely) we'll get only 40 points.
nevada Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 I don't care how many points this gutless team has accumulated. They fail again and again at the very moment us fans have been yearning to see an improvement in. These frauds can shove their points where the sun doesn't shine. \

So India will have to secure two wins 30+30 = 60 points or 1 win and three draws 30+10+10+10 = 60 points. So securing two Wins is most likely target which wont be easy at all in Australia. The current India NZ series has opened up the contest and made the journey to Championship Finals interesting again.
Ajju Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 In AUS Rohit can win 1 test match as wicket is bouncy and flat in india we can win 4-0 against Eng but atleast we ll reach top 3 place thats enough
Gollum Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 (edited) None of the D/N nonsense against Eng, Dada can * off. Need 5-0 against Poms after all the defeats they have handed out to us. Edited March 2, 2020 by Gollum
Sandeep99 Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 India doesn't deserve to be in the final. Wins against WI, Ban, piss poor RSA and hidings in the only tough assignments shouldn't warrant a place in such a prestigious match. NZ and Aus battling it out at Lord's is a much better prospect than India rolling over with an innings to spare. Stan AF, rock777, Vk1 and 1 other 1 1 2
Stan AF Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 All depends on how we play in the first test. Also remember that the test series is immediately after the T20 WC.
Gollum Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 We will do better in Aus, it is 'swing' that has been our nemesis. Will probably still lose but at least go down fighting.

Suhaan Posted March 2, 2020 Posted March 2, 2020 Gawar kohli thinks he can win across continents with same set of bowlers as if they are machine, you need to rotate your bowlers to reduce their workload They are not bulls A long series in India, Aus will need him to think out of the box, play Saini, bring another one in line from domestics They are so many Saini, Porel, Kuldeep Sen,Avesh ,Warrier What's the point of having so many options
