I think they did very good job not forget they were first country other than China to have some city in lock down on Feb 12th or something when like 5 or 6 cases and again they went lock-down in March with relatively few cases so very early lock down made them control the spread at least till now and no death maybe some luck due demography of infection

Ironically, the way they have controlled CoViD is by restricting entry from other countries. It is easy to do for an island nation when they don't have to worry about road travel. As for the world leader hype: She is the leader of 4.7 million people. B H Anil Kumar, the commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike leads 13 million people. Perspective is important.

They have a population devoid of TJ and people on the street protesting to open up offices as their stock portfolios are taking a hit. But as you said they have closed down all travel from outside. So, this celebration of covid free doesn’t make much sense when they open up their borders as their main economy based on tourism is down in the dumps. If they move, NZ will not be like a 4 million people district or province and their pm cant be like a city mayor level any more.
