Ankit_sharma03 Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 When it comes to best left arm bowler many would pick Wasim and in ODI cricket starc would be fav of many . After that the debate begins between - johnson, boult, wagner , Zak, vaas. But this debate is among to the 2 subcontinent bowler - Both highly skillfull and intelligent bowler Zak- Test avg- 32.94 S/r - 60.4 ODI avg - 29.43 S/r - 35.8 Vaas- Test avg- 29.58 S/r - 66 ODI avg - 27.53 S/r - 39.4 Vaas wins on avgs , Zak wins on S/r Vaas was great for intial half of his career, then he cut down his pace to extend his career and wasnt as effective as earlier Zak had fitness issue throughout 1st 6-7 years of his career, then began his peak . Vaas inswinger helped him ran through some lineups specially the poor ones Zak at one point was becoming a nightmare for every left hander specially grame smith and tharanga So whom would you choose among both ?
Clarke Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 Vaas worked very well with Murali as the spear. Zaheer was better in his prime, like the amazing performance in Eng 2007 and 2011 WC but overall Vaas was more consistent and slightly ahead.
Rasgulla Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 Vaas not even a question owned our tendiya back in those days. 9 times if i remember correctly Pratik77 1
Clarke Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 In terms of numbers I'd also consider ER for ODIs. On paper Vaas seems much ahead with 4.18 compared to 4.93 for Zak but a contributing factor is Zak started his career some years after Vaas and in the 2000s pitches got flatter & 300+ became more common.
Gollum Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) ODIs (overall) Vaas comfortably better ICC tournaments, Asia Cup, big matches etc. Vaas better Tests: In SENA Zak comfortably better In SC Vaas better overall but Zak's peak (2007-10) was higher Both had the habit of picking up big wickets, were leaders of the pace packs, mentors, both match-winners.... Vaas was a much better batsman, better catcher/fielder, more fit. And he was an asset for a longer period...Zak apart from 2007-10 and 1st couple of years after debut was a liability. Rightarmfast Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 Have seen Vaas's entire career and he was never threatening. He has good figures, but that's owing to his performance in his own country. Nobody feared Chaminda Vaas. Please do a better analysis and you will find he was terrible while touring abroad. He feasted on lesser teams. Zaheer was a class act. So much so, that at one point of time he was considered the worlds leading bowler. There was always something happening when Zaheer was around, and he was scary and mean. Chaminda Vaas doesnt even come close. Zaheer Khan ALL THE WAY!!!
coffee_rules Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 Vaas. He was feared by Indians. Zak probably better in ODIs, but Vaas could bat and was a better bowler.
