The point is that If he had retired with 500 wkts for e.g. instead of 600 his status would not change among key bowlers .... It is not as if because he picked up 600 wkts, the world change for him .... And he can play as long as he likes Quote The wickets are byproduct of his longevity, you seem to be stuck on that part. How about his longevity is a result of his performances. Good players are relatively more consistent (which is why they are good) and therefore gain the benefits of longevity in one way or another. For e.g. Sobers played for 20 years. FC for 22 years. Hadlee played till 39-40. Quote As far as Anderson goes yes he is not in the top tier for all the caveats but still he on my book is definitely the top 10 fast bowler of all time based on his records. Broad I will put him in the top 15. Nope Edited August 26, 2020 by zen

May be the below would help (a chart I made some time back from selected post 1970 bowlers. Likes of Barnes, who are not on this recent bowlers list, can be added as well): Edited August 26, 2020 by zen

Ankit_sharma03 Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Suitable condition or watver.... its not easy for fast bowler....u gotta admire his fitness and maintaining his skill level
Skipper Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 If Unadkat can brag 12 crores deal, nothing impossible.
G_B_ Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Anderson and Broad have been monsters of the English cricket game. Nobody can deny that. Dont think any other pairing has been so successful. England will miss them badly when they are gone. Ankit_sharma03 and Skipper 2
Straight Drive Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 If Kapil an all rounder bowling mostly in Indian conditions, at a time when all nations had biased home umpires can take 434 wickets, then I don't think it is impossible why a specialist bowler will fail to take 600. Not many specialist bowlers will cross that mark but rare ones who have one more many factors working for them like great fitness, bowling skills, sustainable career can definitely make it.
