They should all be fans! Sachin, Lara, Ponting, Kallis, etc., are leaders of their generation so a lot to look up to. 
 

Similarly, before these guys we had Richards, Chappell, Gavaskar, etc.

Before them Sobers, and so on.


Anyone who likes cricket would be a fan (though the degree could vary) of these brilliant cricketers!

Oh now Sachin is a brilliant cricketer. Thanks for enlightening us. Now that you said he is a brilliant cricketer,  the whole cricketing world would start considering him brilliant :yess:

I have never said he is not :dontknow: .... I am a Sachin fan too esp. in ODIs :dance: .... My comments are usually on how these brilliant cricketers perform relative to each other

Is it ? I thought u liked only top order  batsmen and batsmen from other countries. Thanks for enlightening us again. :dance:

Even Dhoni was anointed captaincy based on Dhoni's recommendation.

Sachin is the greatest all format batsman in the history of cricket and the greatest Indian cricketer ever,so obviously everyone in the team should be his fan.

 

The only problem I have with his fans is that they think that he is the GOAT test player which clearly he is not.

Smith above tendu any day of the week

Actually I rate Lara,sachin,Waugh,border,kohli, ponting on the same level.

All his test records are a function of his longevity.

Countless time sachinistas have reminded me of how he faced great bowlers and then went into hiding when I actually showed how he did against them.

Actually there was a time when sachinistas took over cricket, I thought they were the most shameless bunch of fans but then came Thala Dhoni fans and the rest is history.

 

I hate The indian tradition of making cricketers bigger than the game ,I hope someday someone destroys it.

That won't change and if that happens cricket in India will fade away.

I think comparing a player at his peak to someone retired is the stupidest thing I have ever see. After 93 tests sachin was averaging 60s in a whole different time period

Also trying to show that longevity is not an asset but a weakness is equally stupid, there is a reason no other player played so long 

I love how people talk about sachinstas and chamcas when they make absolutely stupid points and pointing out that these points are stupid is somehow people being bhakts

This post is the perfect example of that hylocorisy. You came with some random assertion and calling sachin fans names but if any sachin fans reply they will be shameless

 

When the simple fact is, as sachin became more popular, there were some fans of other players/insecuree self loathing fans who made it their life mission to pull him down and prove how others are better.  It was the perfect example of the Indian crab mentality

I have seen enough of sachin and the first line of my post describes how much I rate him.

Actually many atg players have come near that 60 avg benchmark for a small duration but Steve Smith is averaging above 60 since a long time.His average is more near to 65 than it is to 60.

 

Secondly as far as playing clutch knocks is concerned sachin ranks very low in my list.I have seen dozens of player who inspite of having a much shorter career have played more clutch innings than sachin.Let alone Smith I am damn sure that Hashim Amla will rank much higher than him in this aspect and I am ready to prove it.

 

What separates sachin from Lara ,Waugh ,Gavaskar or kohli other than longevity?.I don't care about hypothetical scenarios,tell me what's so special about him that he should rank ahead of them in tests.

Actually Kallis averages more than him with the bat and he was also a bowler but still  fans call sachin the GOD of cricket ,now that's another   reason I think he is overrated.
