Thalaivi.

I don't like Kangana but the movie is pretty good. Not sure why it is getting such average reviews

I liked it for a watch. good acting. Arvind Swamy deserves a national award for the acting and looking like MGR. Looks like Janaki (Madhoo) MGR's wife role was subdued, she's a caricature and most of the political stuff is good as per known facts from news stories. My problem, was too much focus on Jaya with mythological references to Draupathi and her equation with that producer Veerappan. This is a hagiography and less of a biopic, like most biopic Indian movies. They should have included more original footage of songs and movies of original era, rather than package it with new music and visuals.  As usual , MSM has canceled the coverage as she is a sanghi for them.  So much for their liberalism. They should have shown how Karunanidhi's Veshti being removed later in retribution in the assembly.

Really enjoyed the end scene - They show the beginning of Jaya's Cult of Personality.

The mid day meals scene where those children pretend to be eating different types of food, that cracked me up. Given the high prices of tomatoes, eggplants and chillies where I live, I might end up doing the same!

I grow vegetables - tomatoes, chilies, Loki and I will not buy them for about 5 months during summer. Next year potatoes too. It is very easy to grow veggies, even in terraces or sunrooms etc

Was thinking of watching it...  Looks like not my cup of tea.

Currently watching Netflix Kdrama thriller My name.  Rave reviews & looks promising.

Dune. Beautiful visuals and production values, decent acting, uneven script and directing. still a fine adaption overall, but one that fails to capture the complexity and magic of Herbert's book

Extremely tough movie to pull off on the big screen.  Previous version failed miserably. This one has exceeded the expectations in my view.

Agreed with this assessment. I still enjoyed it, but obviously cannot match up to the book

Just seen. Agree it looks stunning visually and I liked the world-building and for the first half I was all in. But it loses its way a tad in the second half and the narrative peters out as is more focused on the set-up for the next part/film. And Chalamet's hair deserves an award of its own.

Yeah that's what I thought. Not a single movie worth watching, even in today's age of streaming where good characters actors and creative scripts get fair amount of chances
