Pandya and Thakur not playing.  But it is another Allrounder 'Jaddu' who has been playing crucial role in our wins.  He contributed with bat and ball against NZ and then followed it with similar performance against SL.

Jaddu is a bowler who can bat a bit. He is not good enough to play as a pure batsman.

Yes, but by Khota's logic, we should play 5 proper bowlers. Would we see the same results if Jadeja was replaced by a bowler who cannot bat - like Chahal or Bishnoi

The team is dominating because two useless allrounders are out. Pandya and Shardul are out, and team is benefitting. Shami and the Surya are proper players, not jack of all trades.

All rounders exist and we have seen them play  - Jayasurya, Kallis, Stokes, Flintoff, Shakib, Cairns, Kapil etc have played and done well. Could be selected by their teams on either ability.

Bat a bit. .   Bowl a bit.. lol

If you are not stokes with the bat and do not get into the team as a batsman that does not mean you bat a bit and don't qualify as an all rounder. . :phehe:

Weird to think that All rounders who are more batters than bowlers or the other way around are not all rounders at all. You don't call them bat a bit or bowl a bit when they have scored 2000-3000 ODI runs at 30 average or Taken 100-200 wickets at 1 or more wickets per match.

When a player adds value at no.6 to no.8 as a bowler or batter he is an allrounder. Having the ability to score 50-100 runs or take 4-5 wickets qualifies you as an all rounder even if you do not get in to the team as a proper bat or bowl. Also important if the team expects you to bowl and bat on a regular basis. Some people have the ability but not called up on to bowl or bat as often. they do not play the allrounder role in the team even with having some ability. May be then you can say bat a bit or bowl a bit.

There is always a risk - say vs Australia at Mumbai- that Kuldeep for e.g. is taken apart... and that is where we will miss Hardik as a 6th bowler (and btw Hardik is at least on par if not better than SKY as an ODI bat) Let's hope that never happens.

Despite being a specialist batter, SKY averages only 26 in ODIs after having played 32 matches.  Whereas Pandya, the AR, averages 34 with much better SR.   How is SKY a better batsman than Pandya ?
