Also Kishen under Rohit at MI vs Kishen under Kohli for India - I am willing to bet he will not succeed like has been the case for all promising youngster under this TM. There is something rotten there and it stinks.

 

I'd say the same for others like Samson and Natarajan as well. Unlikey to get the right environment to prosper like they have got at their IPL franchises.

Most sixes this IPL & the list of bowlers he smashed is better than likes of Pandya even who is our best striker.

I like Rahul at number 5 , I don't think he ever will be consistent in odis to be a force upfront. He should be used more for his firepower than his consistency.He has the ability to score 60 or 70 ball 100. Which will match any Butlers of the world. That should be his role in the team.

 

Kohli as a captain will do him world of good if he just asks him to become that sort of a player.Iyer should be at number 4 to absorb any loss of early wickets. Ishan Kishen will come into the team only as a keeper .

 

You keep changing the batting lineup you will end up with nothing.

Iyer looks all at sea vs Short bowling & he was struggling to hit henriques & Zampa even.  Top teams will target his weaknesses.  Already we have too many Accumulators.  A left hander in Middle order nullified wrist spin & fielding side has to think a lot more.  Tom Latham troubled us so much in middle order for that same reason.

unless hardik starts to bowl the whole combination wud be a mess....forget adding kishen soon we ll have to look at someone like Shankar 4 who can do 6th bowlers job

But Hardik isn't your third seamer. I will play hardik as a 6th bowler from now on. We do need a better third seamer than Hardik. Like for Aus,  Stoinis isn't their third seamer.

If he is good enough he will sort his weakness, he has ability do many things well. That should be good enough for him to number 4. He is far better batsman than Ishan Kishen. Why are we burying young talent without giving them enough chances atleast in one format.

 

Left handed batsman is plus not a must in the team.

I'll be happy if Iyer sorts this out.  But I'll always maintain that Kishan is much superior to Iyer in T20.  T20 is not Iyer's format & his backup must be developed in T20Is.  Iyer should be given a run in ODIs in next series as well

In T20 format, we need to look for better alternative than Iyer. Kishan, SKY and Pant are the names that come in my mind.

we already play 3 seamers among 4 bowlers 

If hardik becomes 6th bowler the problem becomes that we have to play jadeja, axar, sundar who will eventuallt bat at 6,7 where u need muscle .

 

IF this lineup has to become a power house

 

• Hardik needs to get his bowling back, not now but atleast in long run so we can have Samad kind of player acting as 6th bowler but if pandya becomes 6th we ll be stuck in jadeja zone
• Pant needs to find his method

IMO Iyer is  many classes above as a batsman over someone like Kishan in all formats. Even Saha has some great knock in IPL including 100s it does not make Saha even a decent international batsman.I don't rate IPL batting that high.

There were two centuries hit in the 3 match NZ ODI series. One by Rahul and the other one by Iyer. Hence, I don't see a point of changing that for now.

The tons are rare from MO in that case. Nobody apart from Iyer and Rahul has done it. Rahul has played lot but Iyer hasn't played many ODI. Anyways you can't drop the rare MO players who are scoring tons.

No if Hardik plays as 5th bowler, he will be our third seamer plus two Spinners. We need to find someone else at 7 instead of Jaddu.

why is it compulsion to play 2 spinners if he bowls as 5th bowler.....until world was struggling to pick kulcha it was understandable now none of 2 spinners demands a place . 

Using 40 overs of seam is fine, samad can keep bowl in between

 

Problem with jaddu zone is all are near about players none stand out, one has one area a bit better other some other area

My thoughts are same but Indian team management does usually go for two spinners most often.
