Lone Wolf Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 Earlier we had Yuvi, Raina who never allowed spinners to settle & were big hitters as well. Now our batting unit is predominantly consist of right hander. England have also put Malan, Morgan in their middle order to keep Left-right combo going. Also our batters are not able to attack wrist spin properly. Kishan is a beast against spin & even better than Iyer. Soorma_Bhopali 1
Straight Drive Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 India needs someone like Maxwell in middle order. Someone who can scire a 100 in ODI and pick few wickets as well as do incredible fielding. SRT100 1
Majestic Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 (edited) We need a player in the middle order who can build an inning from 60-2 or 45-2 or 35-2 and took us to a position from where the platform is laid for rest of the guys. Nobody does it better than Iyer in the Indian team and that is how he solved the misery of a no.4 conundrum. Don't fall for this 390 chase. We can try whoever we want but there is no better option than Iyer at 4 for us. Gill would score the same 38 off 50 balls and then struggle to accelerate once he goes past 50-60 score, Pandey will perform once in blue moon and that's why in his whole career, he has only three scores of 50+. Dropping Iyer means hitting stone on your leg at this point. He is a kind of batsmen we needed in WC semi final. If we drop him we will end up at a similar situation as in while going to 2019 WC without a no.4. Gill should play only test matches or as backup opener in ODIs. Pandey and rest are inconsistent. Iyer knows whom to attack and whom to see off and that's how you do the job. Edited November 29, 2020 by Majestic speedheat 1
Ankit_sharma03 Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 Yes we need lefties but like iyer from start im not entirely sold on kishen , pant is better

But in Those 5 T20s Kishan should be given a chance. There is promise & talent. Pant experiment is over for now.. Unless he does something big in Test series. My point is not to look as a keeper but as a pure batsman Kishan can do well in T20s

SK_IH Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 I think all these guys Samson, Kishan, SKY, Pant need to be drafted into the sides. Enough of Dhawan/Rohit combo at the start. It's time to thank Dhawan for his services & move on. Lone Wolf 1

Hand eye coordination is also not as good & once Powerplay is over his game is limited. SK_IH 1
Serpico Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 dhawan player until 35th over in last match and he wasted more balls against spinners than Pandya. there is no need to force a left hander into the middle order just to have one.. let ishan play one more domestic and ipl season and hone his tecniques and build confidence
rkt.india Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 Dhawan isn't good enough if you are chasing big totals. We can try Rahul at 4 and Kishan 5

Even Australia are picking Cameron Green & puckvoski who are in same 21-22 range. Our team is getting Older... Rohit Dhawan may not last till 2023 with age & fitness. We need to slowly start Transition & T20 is the perfect format. Plus it is a home series against Top side.

India has also picked Gill and Shaw for test cricket. You need players to pick.
vaul Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 Ishan Kishan is weak against pace and bounce compared to Pant.Like Iyer he also looks to be a minnow basher.

I did not notice him in odi squad. Aussies are also top heavy team like India . India just does not have Rohit Sharma. They have played Moises Henriques this match and it shows how much depth they also have in their system. nevada and BacktoCricaddict 2

He may go on to not make it but deserves a run based on how he has performed ever since being picked after the WC. The bigger hole is at the top order. This team has been built as a top heavy team but we are yet to get a 100 from the top 3 in the last couple of series. Last 4-5 of our 100+ opening partnership have involved Rahul. But for some strange reason, he's being slotted in as a middle order batsman. Credit to him to have used that opportunity to still do well but we are wasting his good form by batting him at 5. He is the one who can give us those big 100s at the top on flatter wickets. And Kohli will have to move down the order to become a finisher. This is the only way younger players will get opportunities to develop their game. A complete rejig across the board is needed, not mere tinkering here and there. A Kishen or a Samson coming in will not make much of a difference, when they will have a lot of insecurities about their place in the side. Lone Wolf and nevada 1 1
