Time and again that 100 ball 20 runs from Pujara seems to be difference

It's not nothing.

Once the ball gets older, pujara is likely to be dismissed by a spinner.   Like how Lyon dismissed him easily in the 1st inning when pujara had already played 160 balls. And had scored hardly 40 odd runs.

both Pujara and Rahane has been far off  adequate investments , Rahane more so.  The only slot for Pujara as  of now is the opening slot to ensure that he can play off the opening overs for  stroke makers to follow. But I highly doubt  he is even  adept at it in all conditions. With Rahane, the lesser said the   better.,

With regards to Rahane he was not anymore, he has been found out.

 

Similarly Pujara in his debut test scored a very good innings full of strokes against Australia, not the same player, as time has progressed has become more defensive.

 

Strike Rate in terms of taking singles, keep the scoreboards moving, not playing maidens and allowing the bowler to settle into rhythm.

 

Strike rate should be atleast be 50 as a bare minimum in Test Cricket. Strike should be rotated. Stop being like rabbits in headlights.

 

Nothing to do with IPL.

However, to satisfy your query, his strike was 50.03 before this match now it is 49.9.

You are losing the main point, these players are on decline, ie deadwood. Need to be replaced.

Rahane shouldn't be playing and no he is not same batsman as Pujara. Maybe you're thinking about their LOI/IPL failures and thinking both are same.

 

Pujara is 48 avg batsman and one of the best in SC, Rahane is one of the worst at home.

I was talking about similarities:

 

Low strike rate/ not average

Poor body language

 

If you want to play 1 then it is Pujara.

 

I personally wouldn't.

 

S Gill should be developed at no 3.

 

Most Indian Batsmen can average over 48 in India apart from A Rahane. That is not the basis to keep Pujara in team for overseas.

 

Need to develop a number 3 who is more like Ponting than Pujara.

Burns, Sibley, Crawley ? Took England a while to realise in Test cricket  numbers 1,2,3 need to be " proper test batsmen " then the stroke makers can build on that .
