zen Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 A major issue I have with these two is that they bat when the ball is softened up by the top order but still bat as if they are opening the batting .... mediocre players .... Need to step up their game esp. with the ball 37 overs old and the 2nd session is considered the best to bat .... The last session could get difficult
Cricketics Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 We need to go easy on Vihari. It is not like he has been playing for 6-7 years like Kohli, Rahane, Pujara etc. While we back youngsters like Gill etc, we need to go easy on Vihari who I believe has done more than decent in his test career for India. His average has also not been inflated by strings of home runs yet since he hasn’t been around for that long. I hope he plays this whole series without missing out a test. flamy, nevada, Khota and 1 other 4
zen Posted December 27, 2020 Author Posted December 27, 2020 Note that their batting avg in middle order is in the 24-27 range in the last 2 years, which is the lowest among specialist MO batsmen from Asia in SENA (bottom two with those who played at least 5 games and scored 200 runs) 2nd session is a good opportunity for them to show what they can do

asterix Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 (edited) Vihari can’t step up. He’s a mediocre player... Hee we won’t cross 30 runs each innings. He will make way for Rohit in the 3rd match... The real stepping up needed is from Chet Pujara... 17 (70). That’s not steadying the innings, that’s digging a hole and pulling the whole team down in that hole... He’s a depressing player... Depresses the whole team. He’s like a sad jilted lover living in a cocoon, drowning himself and all around in his sorrow... Edited December 27, 2020 by asterix Number 1

Need to see the difference b/w battling the new ball and playing in the middle order when the ball has softened up If Pujara had played a 17 off 20 knock, the middle order would ha e been exposed early, leading to a probable all out scenario .... the guy has been acting as a virtual opener and soaking up the pressure
Adamant Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 Vihari should be dropped man. As i said, he does not belong in international cricket. asterix 1
SanjuManju Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 I don’t care how many runs he has scored in Ranji, this guy just doesn’t look like he has it to succeed in international cricket Time to dump him. The excuse if he can chip in with a few overs is no longer valid with Jadeja in the team who is a better batsman, bowler and fielder than Bihari
asterix Posted December 27, 2020 Posted December 27, 2020 Rahane has answered the call. When will Vihari answer his? Or do we have be satisfied with his mediocre under 30 score in the series? The guy doesn’t bowls. So I’m expecting he’ll try his best (if talent there) to put more value in his wicket... Being a young player doesn’t means: 1) you’ve to use an important series to search for your form. 2) the team has to compromise just because in the past series anywhere you’ve done well. This idea of being grateful to a player for some of his lucky exploits in the past, and continue to keep him in the team while he sucks, is completely wrong...
