Cricketics Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 I will be traveling to Saf to see this series win. We better win this whether Rahane or Kohli captain or the Great Porbandar express is picked to captain Indian side. I don't care. I want a series win in South Africa finally. The final frontier. zen and putrevus 2

No one cares about WI (and that too when he has only played 5 tests) Average avg excluding Pujara is 30. Pujara avg 43 Quote no he didnt won it single handedly bowlers and other batsman also performed and opp didnt, Virat has had big series but other didnt contribute and opp scored . No player will single handed win u series, its a down right insult to other players When someone scores 500+ runs, he gets the credit .... But I recall that you were writing against Pujara even before that series, so maybe difficult for you to accept/imagine that he was the pillar of Ind success Quote so drop him what a bull **** excuse, WI is a challenge in itself as it has duke balls and good bowlers . Just becoz he cant buy a run doesnt make it less of international cricket No player is going to be dropped for doing badly in a low intensity series like in WI or BD or wharever esp. when he is doing well in key series Quote did he score when others scored in NZ in 2014, even dhawan had a 100 and rohit had 70 there was no layoff in NZ or WI No one has to score in similar patterns and in every country (unless you are competing to be spoken along with Don Bradman). One player can score 200 runs per series in 3 series, another can score 100, 150 and 400. A team would have all types of batsmen, valuing esp. those who can have a Laraesque series with the bat and that too in places like Aus Edited December 29, 2020 by zen kirkutfan 1

HE has one job its not that he bowls or an outstanding fiel;der avg of 30 isnt good anywhere specially if ur specialist and why to break stats to his failure if u want so show recent stats take his last 6 test - 12 innings only 1- 50 and not to forget him going missing in 4th innings completely. When u want to play 5 bowlers every batsman has to do his job and specially if he is a pillar If it helps u not show his failures hide WI, but thats a Khota logic . Quote When someone scores 500+ runs, he gets the credit .... He has done well only in one key series rest most were avg or failure ...i can buy that logic for kohli but no pujara Edited December 29, 2020 by Ankit_sharma03
Prabhdeep Singh Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 5 Tests vs England Away in 2021 3 Tests vs SA Away in 2021 Following batting line should be utilised: R Sharma S Gill C Pujara V Kohli A Rahane KL Rahul/R Jadeja (Depending on whether playing 5 or 4 bowlers) R Pant From the home series vs England 2021 the above line up should be played. If the above line up clicks, the opposition will have big problems. All batsmen above are experienced except S Gill. The opening partnership have good back foot game. M Agarwal has gone a bit haywire due T20 cricket, back to the drawing board. H Vihari with due respect is not the answer, he may replace C Pujara in the future. P Shaw may replace R Sharma in the future.
G_B_ Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 Re England I feel toss and luck with weather does matter. The way England are set up there will be volatility in their performance. Re South Africa No Philander and Abd....ripe for the taking.

HE has one job its not that he bowls or an outstanding fiel;der If a batsmen is doing well in other key places outside Ind, WI does not matter esp. with 5 tests .... there are batsmen who fail when Pujara does well Quote avg of 30 isnt good anywhere specially if ur specialist and why to break stats to his failure if u want so show recent stats take his last 6 test - 12 innings only 1- 50 You may not good at numbers but it is not difficult to fathom that if the recent avg avg across players from multiple teams in 30 (look at the table posted earlier), 43 is exceptional (+43% over avg avg) Anyone can have a bad year - and as already stated below (so no point in repeating it): "That avg of 32 in the top order can be like a 42-45 in MO. Has 7 50+ scores in 36 innings, while someone like Rahane has 8 in 37 playing in MO (leader in MO is Kohli w/ 18 in 48) On top of that he won us a series single handedly with the bat in Aus (first time in Ind's history)! .... Why would we want to focus on games in WI (a low intensity series) and in NZ (where he was the 2nd highest run scorer playing in top order among mass failures), and here when he is coming off a long lay off (no IPL) but played some decent knocks such as 40 odd in Adelaide in difficult conditions and soaking up the pressure in the 1st inning at MCG" Quote yea i wrote he wont work this time it isnt against but a prediction which he hasnt till now As stated above, he has done reasonably well including scoring a 40 odd at Adelaide in a low scoring game and blunting the new ball at MCG in the first inning Quote A batsman job is to score doesnt matter opposition And he is scoring runs v tough teams including winning series single handedly in Aus and blunting the new ball (which again merely glancing at numbers may not be perceptible) Edited December 29, 2020 by zen

zen Posted December 29, 2020 Posted December 29, 2020 (edited) @Ankit_sharma03 Talking about issues/challenges for Pujara in this series: a) Relative rustiness due to a lack of competitive cricket (no IPL too as we saw how many cricketers took time to adjust to cricket in IPL in the initial stages) b) Cummins (and Lyon as Pujara can do something dumb when facing him) may have his # (probably knows how to get him out based on what we have seen) If Pujara keeps getting out to Cummins, he can be criticized for being his bunny. Maybe explore a change in batting position? Do you think it is a viable option to bat him in the upper MO at #4-5 (Pujara is good at batting w/ the tail as we have seen him be the last man out or carry his bat on occasions)? If his job is grind the new ball make him open, job in middle is to score runs against a softer ball which isnt his area. Anyways the problem of openers has been there. Gill who is a better stroke player and he is also loose which will also be soon found out is better for midde as he also is a betterplayerof spin. zen 1
