IPL captains should not captain/VC the national side

Recommended Posts

Kohli PR is even putting all these injuries on Rahane, when that Kaptaan genius wanted all his best bowlers to beat mighty opponents SL,BD at home

But, but comolains about Rahane overusing his bowling resources against paltry Australia in Australia, which is BS

Actually That Kaptan Moron had no business to overuse his best bowlers in all 3 useless odis rather

Lol once a cheerleader, always a cheerleader. If he's the reason behind team's success, why isn't he responsible for the shameful surrender in NZ and for 36 all out? The 10 times better captain claim got punctured with the grit shown by Rahane. No wonder he's the enemy number one for the Kohli cheerleaders

No fair, dude. I don't like either of the two for different reasons.

Frankly, I want a odi/t20/test team consisting of youngsters like Gill, Pant, Kishan etc. Pretty sure, we don't need many of the so called superstars in the team. Initially, there will be hiccups, but with experience, they will learn & improve.

Even if there is such rule, what guarantee that Captain of indian team is not biased towards the players of his franchisee? Unless you want to bar the captain from playing IPL , this doesnt make sense.

Good point. What is the guarantee that neutral umpires are not biased? We can’t guarantee, but at least the chances are less. Here, the captains give feedback to selectors whom to select and select them also in playing 11. This is more than what Imran Khan got, too powerful TM

Yes , thats how it is. U cant be 100% sure who will succedd for long time.

For eg i knw rana has major issues against fast bowling but if im a selector and he keeps performing and their is a need for his kind of bowler ill give him a trying despite having an opinion that he will struggle big time

Then how to fix the selection problem we all have harping about?

have ppl who have eye for talent and understand modern cricket , also end this conflict of interest coz franchise pay great money so Ex cricketer will go there ....but we need them also. I dnt see any harm if they are associated with a franchise as at the end selection is done by 5 ppl . Sad reality is franchises are using our ex players then BCCI

Agreed about all except Bumrah. IMO fast bowlers are way too injury prone to be captaincy material. Only ones i ever saw have a decent run as a captain was Walsh and Imran Khan- with Khan being a part time bowler and batting allrounder when he was captain for the most part and Walsh had a better tha McGrath type reputation for durability.

This is why captaincy gravitates towards the non-bowlers - its very hard to find a bowler who isnt gonna miss 1 of every 5 tests or so.

That's an interesting line of thought.

Shouldn't that rule out Pandya too? He is kind of fast and bats too. Definitely more exertion and wear and tear per match than Bumrah!

We really don't have too many options for ODI/T20 captaincy apart from Rohit Sharma.

Probably. Though allrounders who are not spearheads have the same availability issue.

though it did eventually break Kapil and Botham.
