Personally I'd go with a few having an eye on the future. No oldies or players around 30, except Ashwin I guess especially with Jadeja missing. No questions for selectors - TM i.e. Kohli is the final authority here! They're just there to rubber stamp his orders
kubrickian Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 I think Kohli will still be captain. Even before this tour, Kohli was fairly successful as captain, so cant see him getting replaced by Rahane.

Siraj in place of Ishant is a possibility too.

That should be enough, provided his abdomen has healed. McGrath was saying that too much rest is not good for fast bowlers and their performances drop.

If at all, it should be Kohli who should move on from captaincy atleast in 1 format. Anyway the shelf life of a cricket captain is 5 years and Kohli is quite near the end I believe.
deepdynamo Posted January 19, 2021 Posted January 19, 2021 Jadeja injury have messed up our balance slightly. Can we play both off spinners- Ashwin and Sundar in playing XI ? Kuldeep or Nadeem both can't bat. We don't want an extended tail. Batting has sorted itself out with GOAT like performance by Pant. It looks like end of road for Saha though he will be in squad as back up keeper.

There should not be any doubt about Gill , Siraj , Pant . They just need a long stint in final 14 team in tests for some time Now you need to include KL Rahul and Shaw in the Test 14 team . KL for a MO place to start with . He will also tighten up his game soon. When they hit form and become consistent - KL , Gill , Shaw, Pant are all match winners .
