Read again what I said. 2003 England. That was good team.

And Sl was basically strongest during his era and he bowled to them on pattas. I will put both in same league.

India never toured  toured in England in 2003 nor they played England in any test in 2003.. It was 2002 they toured England, I don't think Kumble was any great there.

2002 yes. He was leading  wicket taker with 14 wickets to his name, so much for not being any great. Does Ashwin has any series in England, NZ or SA where he got 15 wickets.

that is simply peak performance rating right? Not a very good measure overall. definitely in batting there would be at least 2-3 in the top 20 from india.

Yes it is. It complements his stellar stats and record breaking match winning performances

That's more of a peak ranking rathar than all-time.

I know. But fact that he is part of that club as well illustrates he has covered all his bases.

He did have 11 wicket at better avg than Kumble's 14. If he does travel there again like Kumble did, Ashwin will better that record.Ashwin's peak  rating is also an indication of his match winning prowess when at his best. Only thing is he needs to remain fit for whole series.

In 90s, when India produced turners at home, Kumble averaged 21 at home and overall average was 27.

In 00s, India produced flatter wickets and his career avg was around 31. In this decade though, he did very well away. Ashwin is also doing well in second half of his career away from home.

Both are more or less same for me. Remember, before retirement, he will have a small decline too and may end up at average of 27.

He is our biggest match winner at home in last decade. He is already an Indian ATG. By the time he retires he can end up in the same league as Warne- Murali if his body holds up

Best ever.

Him and jaddu.

Don't be nostalgic.

Both Kumble and Ashwin are at same level. Jadeja is a level below both.

After Warne, Kumble and Ashwin are the two best spinners of all-time.

Murali is a chucker, so can't be counted.

I still feel Kumble is slightly ahead of Ashwin. The only reason Kumble's stats are a little skewed is because he faced a very strong Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia and South African team as compared to Ashwin. The era in which Kumble played had some of the greatest players of spin bowling.

Also, once Ashwin has a decline and retires, his test average will go down to 27 too.

Not to me. Ashwin is better. Jaddu is as good as either. Pure match winner.

What makes them better than Kumble according to you? I think Harbhajan is as good as Jadeja.

Overall as a player. Ad an allrounder. Not even close.

Jaddu is not a darter. He is a genuine match winner. You could argue that current spinners are helped by our ATg Indian pace attack who are easily the best in the world.

India of 2000 din't have that but jaddu and ashwin have single handedly won games for us too. So you can't say for sure.

Hard to compare era's. If I had to choose I would go with jaddu ash and Kumble in India. Plus bumrah Shami Or Umesh.

Together they are great. But without Jadeja, Ashwin has looked awful many times. When SA were chasing 458 in 4th inning, Ash ended up with an awful figures of 0-105.

Last time when India played England in Chennai,

Ashwin ended with figures of 1-151.
