Root is a champion

He was always the most aesthetically pleasing and best to watch of the Fab 4. Root's biggest problem was the mental block of failing to convert 50s. He's always looked very good. Now he seems to be getting in the groove and turning them into daddy hundreds he will be unstoppable for years to come.

In the wider context, Root also now averages 50+ in 6 different countries, better than
Smith & Williamson (5) and Kohli (3)

seems Root as of now is a better test  batsman baring obviously  Smith.   His away average is  50+ where as   Kohli has only  around  45

Root is also youngest among top 4 so should play longer as well.  Class act

Wont be surprised if he ends up being the top scorer among Fab-4.

Root will finish as the top scorer among the fab 4 considering the no of tests England play and the fact that he's the youngest.

The only question is what'll be his average when he's done?

Averaging in mid-40s will affect his stature as ATG batsman. A middle order batsman should be averaging around 50 to be labelled as ATG. He should fully utilise the purple patch he is in now, already he has scored around 600 runs this year.

His average is 50.39 after today's innings. Also, the fact that he plays half of his matches in English conditions makes his average of 50 even more impressive.

He'll retire as the only English batsman ever to average 50+

I was watching highlights and man, he looks super-impressive.  I've never payed that much attention to his batting until now.

On a related note, am looking for something to hate in this English team (other than the fact that they are descendants of colonial bloodsuckers).  It is so easy to hate on the Ozzies, but this England team just seems to be a decent group of guys.  Maybe when Anderson is bowling, he will mouth off and I can get my hate-cap on.

he's nothing much to look at, Kohli is far better in full flow.

Can be break the record of most test runs in a calendar year, he has great start of 2021.

that has nothing to do with aesthetics.

Oh yes. Shot off the backfoot through the covers is a sight to behold. Tendy did that better than anyone. Backfoot game is totally missing from Kohli's repertoire. It's like a looking at a beautiful flower missing a few petals.
