There seems to be a lot of gloating about the result and mocking of some quite reasonable criticisms.

The reality is these pitches don't provide a fair contest. The scales are tilted so far towards one team, there really isn't a contest. 

Yeh it made for some enthralling viewing, but do we really want to continue down this trend?

India are a really good side, they could/should beat England in most conditions at home, there isn't a need to go this extreme.

 

If this results in England repaying the favour when we tour, it won't make us happy and the game overall will be poorer for it.

Given injuries to key players, would you have been okay for India to lose this test series and miss ICC test final. People are forgettting Axar has debuted in this series.

Still bumrah Shami and Ishant din't bowl in tandem in red ball. I would like a rematch with those 3 together. I definitely think our trio is better in most Condtions.

Nope I was talking about Aus series...  There's nothing to compare with English pacers that too in India

This was probably last of the chances we will see them in Aus as next test tour is after 2023..  Maybe in India but Ishant won't play but we have a beast in Umesh. 

Shami + Bumrah + Umesh are best bowling attack in SC conditions no matter who they face.  

It'd have been very very interesting if Aus had made it to final..  Then we'd have seen this contest in English conditions which would have been very tricky. 

Hazel + cummo + Pattinson/Jhye  vs Boom Shami & Ishant..  That could've gone either way in my view.

I'm not sure what your point is. A few weeks ago people were suggesting India could field 2 international teams. Now we can't beat England at home with 2-3 players out?

In 2018-2019, when we had a full first choice pace attack, we outbowled the Aussies. 

 

This time we did not have either Ishant or Shami ( barring 1 innings ). Even then, the way we bowled was top class.   :  )

Who are those people who said India can field two international teams. India is missing Jadeja who is two players on these wickets plus no Shami and Yadav.That is 3 out 5 bowlers India is missing.

 

See how easily you said India cannot beat England with 2-3 players. Those two three players are your m,ain bowlers. Which team in world even at home will win without their three main bowlers.

 

England is not some walkover team , They can bat till 10 and have very good players on normal wickets.

 

Point is India tried to play with sporting pitches but injuries to main bowlers lost that first test. Losing is not acceptable for Indian fans/media.India has always resorted to these wickets to get the results in crunch games.When they did not , they have lost those series.

 

We want sporting wickets talk is fine then we have to accept losing too especially when you have injuries. Sporting wickets give other teams a chance to win also.

Don't know why Indians don't complain. Kohli for all the macho bravado, he never complains about tosses, pitches etc. Just gets on with IT.

I have to give him that. he also said after 36 ao that this preformance is not acceptable and they (the team) have to take it on the chin or some like that. I also see the same with Cummins. He just said at the last match that Indians played better than them even though he was feeling disappointed. I can almost say that Root did the same but he came back with "I think it sums up the wicket, if I am getting a fifer. ". He was being diplomatic but his inner whinging pom came out at the end.

How is this fair pitch. You win the toss and just win the match.

Prior to this, in the first match at Lords, they prepared a road which suited the Aussies and the pace of Starc and co and Eng lost. So they made a deliberate attempt to juice up the pitch. How is this any different from what happened in Chennai and Ahmedabad. Somebody send it to Vaughn and Rob Key and other whinging poms

When Rohit said it to Aussies and then Steyn, they made fun of him on the media while we were trashing India's poor performance. maybe he is right in saying so to mentally disintegrate them. Aussies got a pasting on the return leg in 2013 and went back licking their wounds

It all boils down to the mad first test pitch. Flat as a billiard board on the first 2 days and ragged as mars crater on last 2 days. India fluffed the in between day 3. If India had drawn the first test these two pitches wouldnt have been prepared..

Tbf we don't know that for sure, remember SA 2015 - yes that's not 100% appropriate equivalent but we do know our strengths & have never shied on exercising it under Dhoni & now Kohli

Yep the only person I felt a little bad for was Cummins. All that effort and still got their butts kicked in the end. He was in beast prime form of his life. What a brilliant bowler he was in that particular series. 

 

He is one of the best ever. Never makes excuses. Honestly I would have been happy with a draw in australia but I had a feeling we could chase because even Pakistan almost chased 400 plus in Gabba in the last innings back in 2016.
