Wishing him a successful "retired" life.  I have no doubt that he will be a coach or cricket administrator - as captain, he has shown he can lead teams and earn people's trust.

 

I "met" him briefly in Kingston, Jamaica in 2013.  He was out of the playing 11 and standing around at the bottom of the steps to the pavilion, and I spoke a couple of sentences in Kannada telling him we came from the US to watch the team play, and wishing him the best.  He responded with "Tumba santosha" (very happy).  There was this feeling I got that he was just trying to find his way in the team and seemed a bit quiet.  

 

Good guy who deserves our support and not our derision.  I'll bet none of us can accomplish what he did.  Unfortunately, his international career will be remembered for Perth.  Reminds me of Chetan Sharma, who was a solid international player and accomplished more than Vinay did at the highest level, but the longest-lasting memory of the guy is Sharjah Miandad last-ball six.

Karnataka played 1 match per Ranji season in Mysore green tops ..
