I have been calling it since 2016 - India has always had the batting resources available - it was only about team decision about batting tactics, batting unit composition, and selection. Results depend on incentives and priorities. If you let a couple of feudal landlords occupy top order slots and allow them the luxury of 'going big' to "set platforms", then thats what you get. If you task the unit and build it with an eye to maximize team scoring and win probabilities instead of individual scores and landmarks - then thats what you can achieve. zen, rollingstoned, Vijy and 1 other 4

Personally, I would slot Sundar into the whiteball scene asap - want him to play 25+ games ahead of the 2023 WC in India. Unless we have an alternative spin bowling allrounder prospect. I believe in Sundar. Only issue is that he's not suitable for the lower order. He has to bat at #4/5 to find his groove and I think that's harder to do. Post-Kohli and Rohit, I think the following XI is what I see as India's ODI unit KLPD Rishabh Gill Sundar Pandya Surya/Hooda/somebody else of that calibre power hitter who can bowl a bit Chahar / arshdee - accurate swing bowler who can ideally bat a bit Siraj / Mohsin Boomrah Chahal or his level leggie Rishabh and Sundar 2 lefties in the top order. I would like to see Shaw and Samson auditioned at the top during 'rotation' to see if they can take that next step and become more regular contributors, in which case this XI does have one slot open to shift things around....
