They are basically done after the swing goes, unless they can try slower balls in T20s. Arora maybe built into something different than the typical Indian swing bowler. Mariyam Posted April 13, 2022 Posted April 13, 2022 @Cricketics Was it you who hyped up Basil Thampi? Not at all impressed by him. We aren't going to win games with an attack that has Basil as the mainstay. Wasn't impressed with Bumrah either today. He constricts runs, but doesn't get much needed wickets.

Bumrah is not being used as a wicket taking bowler by MI. He just bowls 1 over early on, that too one among 3rd/4th/5th over. While most pacers taking wickets get to bowl at least 2 overs with the new ball. MI need to give him 2 overs with the new ball and tell him to bowl the channel. He can then bowl 2 overs at the end. Dear Mariyam- truly appreciate a lady participating and encouraging us. IPL matches are SHOW games created to get full stadiums and TRP on TV. i got a shock when i saw the wankhade stadium , looked a copy and paste of cross maidan Pitch. these Pitches are created to humiliate fast bowlers and even Spinners as they are the FLattest wickets Possible. i will not be surprised if umesh yadav comes at no 4 and scores a 50. any tom, dick harry can hit Pat Cummins, boom, Umesh, mills (left arm quick in MI), Siraj and the best pacers in the world. Do not take bowling performance seriously on such patta"s. actually top bowlers should try to avoid bowling on these water deprived pitches. any Lapetebaaz can suceed on these tracks and good batsman may not score at that brisk pace. BCCI should prepare international standard Pitches for IPL that give lil help to pacers too. but that will mean 120 scores and it seems they dont like it. i hope the match between GT and RR is not on a Patta track today as i will be at DY Patil today (watching my second match of the seaason) in t20 world cup in australia..it could be a green wicket or a bouncy track and patty will look a DEMON of a bowler. vishalvirsingh Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 Nitish Rana is an IPL hero...scores on patta tracks and hits big. many such guys do. see Dube.......but on international Pitches where the Pitch is a bit green, see their records. balll we need to evaluate carefully. few days back Pat scored a 50 in 14 or 15 balls....that does not mean patty is a great batsman...he is a good Lapeetebaaz

That is the nature of the beast ie t20 cricket. For mass consumption and more eyeballs a 130 par score pitch with lot of assistance to either seam or spin won't be optimum. It is what it is. International t20 tournaments are much less batting friendly than bilaterals and ipl imo. Tbh the pitches this year have been good so far. Maybe early on it feels that way because it has to last 2 months of cricket. But apart from Brabourne i don't feel any pitch is that flat. Wankhede has been the most sluggish out of the 4, especially compared to it's usual standards. Edited April 14, 2022 by rollingstoned express bowling, Mariyam and vishalvirsingh 3

Nattu is borderline trundler , would be quite insulting to say He quite oftenly bowls at~ 135 and seen him reach at times over 140(but that was before injury though) Does bring the ball in also, had he been a little taller would have been genuine threat Edited April 14, 2022 by Suhaan

Lord, I was reading about Nattu and I found a couple of his USPs: 1) Consistent barrage of yorkers during any phase of the game, especially reverse-swinging yorkers during the death-phase. We all know this USP. Here's ex-CSK batsman Sam Curan speaking about the difficulties of facing Nattu [link]: Quote "He actually defended 13 when I was on strike. I have experienced his yorkers. He is very skilful. A bowler who can hit six yorkers consistently" "He is someone most teams would love to have in their team. He’s a left-armer, got that different angle and also gets a bit of reverse swing. The ball that he bowled to Pandya just tailed in and took the leg stump." 2) I found an interview of Zak and Vaughn discussing him during India's Aussie Tour in 2020. Here Vaughn points out another of his USP [YT link] : Quote Vaughn: [...] it does look like an action that's quite difficult to pick up as a batter... you know the quick arm speed and those variations of those cutters look really difficult to pick from the hands... I'm currently researching the profile of successful types of bowlers in Aussie pitches, and apart from the tall fast pacers who extract a lot of bounce, there is also this variety of thinking-on-your-feet, fast-medium pacers like Kane Richardson and Moises Henriques, whose specialty is deceptive pace that varies between 110-135 kmph and comes out in the variety of yorkers, slow bouncers, cutters, reverse swing, etc. Batsmen make a lot of mistakes playing these bowlers and since the grounds are quite big in Australia, they often get caught in the deep or get bowled. Nattu, Harshal & Arshdeep fit this category of bowlers quite well. For each specific category of bowlers, I'll select 2/3 bowlers and play 1 depending on the conditions. DarkProfile Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 Experts, is it right to assume that maximum bowling speed of a bowler is not a constant but depends on conditions like climate and humidity? My assumption derives from Javelin Throwers. This time no thrower was able to touch 90 meters mark in hot and humid Japan. But I'm sure the 90 meters mark will be crossed in Paris because of favorable conditions. So, I'm assuming that pacers may bowl 3-6 kmph faster in Australia as compared to India. Am I wrong in my assumption? vishalvirsingh 1
