An in form Bhuvi can help ease the pressure on Bumrah in T20Is. He can bowl at any stage of the innings, you can bank on him to be not so expensive and he can get you important wickets although he's not an out and out wicket taker with red ball. Easily better option than the some of the trundlers we're preferring and he's no dud with the bat.

Sadly he's badly out of form this IPL. Bowled 12 overs for 131 runs and is still searching for his first wicket

Wow, my time machine worked, I am back in 2018.

Hey rkt, I wanted to ask you this, is it realistic to expect a conventional swing from an express pace bowler? I know seam movement at 150+ would be deadly if pitched right but can you really swing the ball at that pace!

Yes. Brett Lee used to bowl good outswingers. Starc bowled good inswingers.

Dube is a transformed batter / hitter these days.

Vicious and powerful hitter. Rectified his weakness against bouncers.

Can bowl too.

Got power and range and being used v.wisely by CSK to maximize him.  He has a v.defined role. if comes out its good and if not then no problem kind of attitude.

There are more chances of him taking down the spinner than spinner taking him down and then  now he is hitting pacers too. He is one who other teams have to plan for.

20 ball 40 run innings from Rahane and Dube is what CSK asking them for. Which they are doing.

Yes.  Many of the foreign players don't want good young Indian players coming up.

deKock was positively morose while talking about " team-mate "  Mayank Yadav.

deKock does not really talk that much and more so in recent years

We have seen significant conventional swing from Lee bowling 150 k+ and Donald bowling 145 k+.

But some pacers find it difficult to control that swing while bowling flat out .. while it is easier to control the seaming ball at full pace.

Faster the bowler better their prospect as a swing bowler, all pak bowlers were swing bowlers , Asif was only seam bowler and v.different from all Pak bowlers so got high praises by all of their greats.

As a swing bowler they want it to swing late (same thing with reverse swing) and higher the bowlers' pace late it would swing and they can generally can control the direction of swing (in/out) by just direction of seam.

So 150 kmph Akthar was mostly swing and invariably some one will hit seam and it would seam as well. Dale was out swing bowler , Starc is swing bowler he is more like Pak bowler than Aus bowler.

Gul started as seam bowler and then changed into swing and increased his pace in prime.

Seam requires more practice and knowledge of your skills, seam has to be right, lenght have be right, line have to right but it works at all pace once they master it. Batters find it hard as there is no tell-tell sign where the ball be going.

If bowler does not have much pace then their ball starts swinging too early and easy to pick and hit out at intnl level. works at domestics levels but not at the top level.

Yep, you are right, I am a clown who supports fast bowlers and you are a clown who supports Unadkat.....:;)

I will agree that UNADKAT is a very lucky bowler- a bowler of his pace and Physique got to play for INDIA in tests and ODI - bhuvi and Deepak Chahar are way better slow n swing bowlers then him , even nattu is better than him. so many domestic bowlers who bowl between 120 to 135k are in India domestic with varied skills but unadkat got chance ahead of them.

He is getting regular support from franchisee owners- he definitely has some Skills up his sleeve for t20- everyone knows that He has phenomenal control over his slow balls.

but with his rocket pace and average swing - he may be a fair bowler for a T20 team but for ODI and TESTS, not even his best supporters would pick him in any international team ( leave playing for INDIA)

These coaches are way too timid and super averse to playing guys like Umran. They find it comforting if guys like Unadkat are taken to the cleaners but not quick bowlers.
If I were the owner, I'll manadate these clowns to play certain high impact players. It makes sense commercially too.  No sane person would derive more pleasure in watching Unadkat Vs Umran.
Also I don't understand, why are guys like Vettori who have been proven failures given a chosen to coach?

after the phenomenal success of Mayank, @express bowling and I were pretty sure that Umraan would be supported and will also get a fair chance but I guess he got 1 over to now in one match and then he has not been played- that's crazy, and insane.  if umraan gives 10 runs more in the first match - he will be the game changer in the next match and win the game only himself.

if u support the horse - he will get into his form and you will yield benefit later.

That ship is sailed, let's not turn the clock and go back to 2022 where Bhuvi flopped badly vs SL, Pakistan & England. Despite favourable conditions did nothing with new ball and was a sitting duck in the death.

Bhuvi is finished from 2018 itself. He is simply playing on reputation and seniority else he don't have any skill. A very poor fielder and equally bat with bat. He may look good here for new balls but on flatter tracks he is a lamb waiting for to be sacrificed.

We need to move on, we won't be able to move ahead unless we stop looking at the back.

I for sure would love to see Mayank be our second pacer with Hardik being the third. Not sure if we need another pacer on those US wickets this world t20. If they gonna be conducive to fast bowling that's when I thought we might miss an in form Bhuvi as I don't know if there's any other pacer we can bank on in this format. All I see in this IPL are trundlers who don't really inspire confidence like a Bumrah or Mayank.

I agree though we can't keep on selecting players on past reputation.

Guys like cummo are worried that the new gen indian players might cause problems for aus in tests etc.

Dumb Indian boards don't care. All they care about is dollars.

For conventional swing I have heard it's better to let the ball hang in the air as long as possible so you get the most amount of swing which is why you are also encouraged to pitch it up, logic is similar to asking spinners to flight the ball and bowl slower through the air even if they are 2 very different processes. This isn't necessarily true for reverse swing tho. Steyn often cranked it up and bowled quicker if there was no swing in the air. Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

our trundlers--mukesh chowdhary today ( bowling 132 to 137K) and so many are getting hit for 10 to 12 runs an over and they are getting repeated chances- harshal trundler king patel has been thrashed in every match in which he is played in this IPL- then why is the coach sticking with him.

PLease notice this point - new fast bowlers harshit got a chance n he impressed, Mayank has got the social media crazy, Batsman give respect to genuine Pace. see alzary,  even see Ishant when he is bowling above 140( clean bowled russel off a 144.5 k yorker on a flat track)- I mean when the bowler is generating pace , he is getting respect too

see khaleel , mayank ,even mohsin is getting SUCCESS. alzary, pathirana and one more fiery foreign fast bowler was looking unplayable as they were bowling fast.

Point I intend to make is - Speed succeeds even in T20 provided its the right line n length.
