Think he will go through the same old pattern -- Started as express bowler for 8 over season 1-ipl , then 145+ kmph touching 150 kmph here and there and then will settle down for high 130s and mid 140s kmph Well, Tyagi came back fast after almost an exile of 5 years. Still hitting same speeds. He was trundling though in 2024...135-145 range. Once body adjusts to changed in action and runup, the flow will comeback. express bowling, cricspirit and Mosher 3

Too predictable like Umran Just now, singhvivek141 said: Another 50 from Mayank. I know he didn't bowl erratic lines, but he became predictable, which is enough for batters. Not sure if LSG will play him another game, but he definitely can't be bowling at 140-150 range and be predictable. He has to bowl quicker which we has doing in his first season. So many deliveries above 150k. Mayank needs some actual games under his belt. He had played just 5 T20Is, 0 List A and 0 FC marches in the last 24 months before this match. Needs to play domestic cricket regularly from now on. Before that we can't judge him He came to the IPL 2024 after playing and performing in VHT and SMAT. Texan Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Mayank's bowling figures don't do justice. He didn't really bowl that badly. Good pace and hurried many batters. I feel like Mayank will be more useful if he can play the longer formats as well. Not sure about his fitness levels, but if he is fit, he should focus on playing few Ranji games (not all), Duleep Trophy, few overseas A team tours, etc. The real value of a fast bowler is realized more in the longer formats. express bowling 1

After injury if the bowler is not able to get back to previous pace its hard to regain it afterwards. Nortje use to be 150+ kmph bowler but he too struggles to get to 150 kmph may be 1-2 ball here-there, after reoccuring injuries he lost the pace and never regained same pace. With the the express pacers or near express pacers of the past they would get injured but return to full speed soon. Tait/Bond/Akthar/Styne all had injuries but they returned with full pace everytime. Same can be seen with Markwood. Bowling at that pace is not easy, 1stly not every1 has that kind of pace if some1 has it injuries will be part of the it and then coming back to full pace after injuries is more of a mentality thing. I have a different concern - knowing Indian coaching methods, I think they have dabbled with Mayank's action. The action that produced 150+ speeds with almost impossible to hit out accuracy in 2024 is gone. The new action limits pace and limits accuracy and the bowler of 2024 may be gone as a result. The injury was god sent to them - using a trifling injury they went to work...... express bowling and Suhaan 2
Texan Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Watched the replay of Mayank's bowling again and here is my analysis: First two overs: Mayank was absolutely steaming in and bowling exceptionally good short pitched fast balls. Both batsmen were clearly not comfortable with the pace and were lucky to have survived that spell. 2-0-15-0 Next two overs: He was still bowling a good length, but pace was slightly off and line was a little bit more leg side. RCB batters like Patidar and David are very good at the leg side mow over cow corner and due to the predictable line and length, were able to hit him for a couple of sixes each. Lesson: He needs to change his line to be a bit more towards the offside and mix in a few yorkers. Remember that LSG has really not treated Mayank well if he was truly fit and match ready whole season. You can't play him in the middle of a season, then drop him after one match for a few matches and then play him again for one match. They will probably drop him again after this game. What confidence will that give to your fast bowler? Obviously, he has to be playing all matches to ensure he has a good rhythm and confidence. Mayank on his part has to shift his line to a little more towards off side especially to batsmen who are predominantly leg side players. He also has to learn to slip in a few yorkers or even low fulltosses on off stump line. Rightarmfast and cricspirit 2

It is the same line he was operating right from the start He isn't bowling full to exploit that line, even if does batsmen these days are unrelenting towards leg,T20 s require different lengths Most successful of them is wide yorkers, yorkers, hard lengths, into the deck slower ones rising into the batsmen(even that too may travel in coming days towards midwicket, square leg etc) He needs to play as many games as possible ,his body is too rusty, and work hard to bowl atleast 10 deliveries over 150 in 24 ball spell Need4Speed, AKane, singhvivek141 and 1 other 4

He surely lacks the fast bowling temper, not showing tensed face is not the only trait which separates you from genuine pace loving pacers ,it is forged deep inside your mind rather Bumrah never shows animated faces or required testosterone levels to make those facial expressions but he's a true pacer always tries to hurt batsmen/bowl pace to make things difficult for batsmen Edited May 8 by Suhaan Need4Speed, Rightarmfast and tapandrun 3
