His game against spin was damn bad for so many years and consistency was a massive issue in first 4-5 yrs.

For pakistan its like unearthing someone like pandya, russell, maxwell ............he isnt close to either but for them its the best middle over quick scorer they can get currently . Pakistan needs guys like sharjeel, haider ali, Azam khan to do well if they wanna stay relevant in LOI. Even if they dont stand compare to others in world its their best shot.

Maqsood as well..  I think he has more power in his strokes than Azam.

yea maqsood is also good and has been around for a while now, even khushdil shah can be decent for that side. With these players their LOI will improve in next 5 yrs

You are way overestimating Azam's current abilities. Azam at the moment is T10 player, not even T20. He is not ready yet for sure, he doesn't know what to do if he has more than 3-4 overs to bat.

I know he is raw and inconsistent at any level but ability is their....problem is consistency . 

He will not find a place in Mumbai domestic side but will in pakistan side and may be throwing him in deep end might just help. Pakistan domestic structure doesnt groom batsman well

Visit Azad Maidan or Oval Maidan on Saturday and you will see 100 of kids with such raw ability and some of them look like way  fitter than Azam Khan. Doesn’t mean they should be getting an international cap  

unless he is the reincarnation of Bradman scoring a zillion runs or as you say “modern player” hitting 30 ball 100’s in every other game he should no were be near a FC side leave alone international cricket.

you are focussing too much on his size.He's agile behind the wicket actually.Ofcourse running is not his strength

 

Nel took wickets but also used to get hit.and appam hit one shot/slog

 

Rashid OTOH rarely gets hit.In his 5 year IPL career you can count on fingers when he got hit.Gayle is another one who did well vs him.

 

For Pak standards they need a late order hitter/finisher.There are not many other options
