Ankit_sharma03 Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 People often use or actually misuse this word for a any n everyone ?? For me Hack is - a low level/talent/skilled player who has one way out by hitting it. But here people confuse aggressive batsman with hack. How does someone who has a range of big shots can be a talent skill less player ?? How does using power shots, innovative shots , playing field , having a huge range or making minor adjusments like standing in crease, backlift , grip come under lack of skill ???? I think only batsman i can think of who i can put under this category is mandeep singh . Poor against pace, moving ball, short ball , nothing great against spin , lack of power, lack of defence, lack of range in shots and even on his good days didnt have great impact is what wud be a perfect hack. All he does was clear one leg and target the leg side coz he had nothing going on for him. But now people call any aggresive player a hack . Matalb kuch bhi.... Attacking is as much a skill as defending and remember its about scoring in the end. To add why is batting slow considered smart batting ?? Many here have abused young player by saying had iyer, manish been batting instead of that hack they wud have played with brain . Wait how the Fck is this smart batting- RRR is so high yet someone like Manish isnt even looking for boundaries, shudnt this be brainless batting.

A hack is a guy who either knows how to play one way or is equipped to play one way only and can’t adapt according to situation and has 0 patience or awareness of the situations around him. That actually came out well, I might send it to Oxford and Websters. As someone who has a good cricket acumen, surprising that you need to hear that from me. zen Posted July 18, 2021 Posted July 18, 2021 To keep it simple, Hack: A low skill batsman who under utilizes defensive shots, choosing to rely on attacking shots. Bowling teams may not develop in-depth plans for such a batsman.
Sean Bradley Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 A one dimensional player, who has a very limited range of shots. Someone who has a a dominant leg side game compared to off side game. If put under pressure, he/she starts slogging. beetle, Ankit_sharma03 and nevada 3
maniac Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 (edited) @Ankit_sharma03 no offence but I was just browsing through padosi forum and seeing their reaction to legendary Azam Khan and some of the guys who back him have some of the same reasoning you come up with for few of our own players. Now I seriously hope you don’t think he is a great player . I haven’t seen him bat apart from the T20 games vs England where he didn’t do much but I can believe looking at him that if he connects the ball it does go a long way. Edited July 19, 2021 by maniac
Suhaan Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 Anything opposite to what @maniac says for an attacking innovative strokeplayer and is a game breaker maniac 1
SK_IH Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 There is no need to define hacks tbh. Power hitters will resort to hacks in some innings or another, it's way to approach to T20 cricket or even ODI cricket now. nevada and Mosher 2
cowboysfan Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 even hacks like ishan kishan can succeed in the modern game.
express bowling Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 A batsman you don't like, often for non-cricketing reasons, and who is usually a flamboyant strokeplayer. On a serious note, a hack is someone whose batting performances drop significantly more than others whenever the batting conditions or match situations become tough. Lone Wolf Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 If a hack can play on both sides of the wicket he is a quality stroke player. The leg side hack are the most limited version & useless. Shivam Dube was one

ShoonyaSifar Posted July 19, 2021 Posted July 19, 2021 @Ankit_sharma03 Unfair to call Mandeep a hack. He is a fine FC batsman, not very good in T20s though. Doesn't have the power game.

Quote and has 0 patience or awareness of the situations around him. How is this match awareness when RRR is so high n players are taking 1-2s which someone like Manish , dhoni, jadeja have been guilty of. Dhoni was said to have greatest match awarness and he has done that so many times even before his dip started Manish screwed SRH so many times like that , and ull call him much more aware then pandyas , pant, sky..........This guy was once seen as potential india captain as he use to be made India-A regularly How is this match awarness ?? This is pure selfishness .....as selfish as afridi Why is batting slow called match awareness ?? What happens to the match awarness of our top 3 in pressure games ?? In 2019 Wc - none looked to grind when williamson showed the way In 2015 Wc- Kohli batted like an idiot chasing that mammoth total In 2017 CT- Kohli was already put down against Amir yet he kept going for his shots Thats why i say this is the most misused n abused term . Just a term to degrade players who do the dirty work which is everyone wants to play safe Quote Attacking batsman <> hack and Vice versa Its actually a low skilled batsman who resorts to hitting to find his way out ....chal gaya teer nahin to tukka Edited July 19, 2021 by Ankit_sharma03
