Time to reopen the debate- 6 batsman vs 5 batsman + 1 all rounder

I have always said, extra batsmen on pitches which assist bowlers and extra bowler on flat pitches . 

Especially when you are playing  away from home in places like England, you play 6 batsmen.

You guys need to understand that Kohli's template is actually correct.

The caveat though is that it assumes he has 6 batsmen that can bat. Unfortunately for India at the moment, there is probably at most 3 players that can bat in our lineup.

 

If Hitman, KL or Pant all go for a low score, the team rolls over no matter what almost 99% of the time.

Jadeja is definitely not the best fit for overseas allrounder. We need a medium pace batting all rounder. Till we get that, I would go for 6 batsmen

with this lineup, 6 batsmen is useful but 5 bowlers are needed to give rest and rotation as well. a true conundrum.

yes, he is far, far better. the kind of glory years that root is having, smith kept churning them out year after year. I believe that root's form will dip if/when he goes to NZ or Oz, potentially even SA depending on the pitches.
