If he is contributing with strategy than hire him in the think tank. an athlete plays for his physical skills and his mental skills are that extra edge to make him better. You don’t carry a player for all intangible factors. By the same account his team sucked last year and they fixed it by getting a better combo. In fact there was no hype on his captaincy. By same account Rohit Sharma has won more titles than Dhoni. Yes having a captain helps the team but you are overrating the contribution. No one denies Dhoni is a good captain but excuses like people will tune off if he is isn’t captain, chennai will get ruined if some other captain takes his place is what is repulsive. We don’t have Kapil or Sachin but Indian cricket moved on didnt it? His first job is to perform as a player.
