Next 3 matches for MI:

DC, RR and SRH - possibly win all three and with 8 wins - 16 points can qualify

KKR:

PBKS, SRH and RR - If they win all three, they go to playoffs with better NRR. But, KKR can lose to one or even two of these teams.

MI has a better chance to qualify than KKR

CSK has already qualified

DC to play 3 tough matches - MI. CSK and RCB . They can beat RCB and they are through or don't lose badly and still maintain good NRR

RCB has to play PBKS, SRH and DC. They need 1 win to qualify

RR and PBKS are practically out , even if they win all three (one of them is against each pther) they can qualify if other teams lose all their matches. very tough math

@zen any guesses? No takers?

There can be various permutations and combinations. In the practical scenario, I expect RCB to win at least one more of the remaining 3 games. With 8 or more wins, NRR is not likely to be an issue at this point … CSK and DC in with 8 or more wins already in the bag … B/w KKR and MI, the one that blinks will miss out.

Some form indeed.

They are not beating DC. RR also performs well and has a good record against them. The only team they have a good chance of beating is SRH.

I will pick

CSK, DC, RCB and Mi on current form and standings

How have you picked MI over KKR on current form. Think the massive difference in NRR, tilts the favour to KKR.

BTW no idea how RCB is in such a good position, such a up and down side.

Yeah so that indicates MI have an easier set of remaining games ( also v debatable), but not that they are in better current form.

Pollard and Pandya have revived their form from the PBKS match, they are on an upsurge. Only SKY and Kishen  to come to party. They always prop themselves up late in some season , like in 2017 and win the trophy as well

Qualification scenarios: What MI, KKR and RR need to do to make the playoffs

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/ipl-2021-qualification-scenarios-kolkata-knight-riders-primed-for-fourth-spot-1281421

DC. CSK, RCB and MI will qualify

If KKR win their next game, then the last 2 games will be dead rubber. Hence, the organizers won't let that happen.

51:  RR v MI:  MI gets to 12, but NRR is still negative. If RR wins they get closer to KKR.

52: RCB v SRH: Inconsequential , but if RCB wins they can get past CSK for 2nd place

53: CSK v PBKS:  CSK for sure, PBKS is horrible.

54: KKR v RR: QFs for both, winner will be the 4th place

55: MI v SRH: If RR wins, MI will have to win against SRH in a relatively lesser margin to beat NRR. If KKR wins MI is out (NRR is hard to beat even if MI wins)

56: RCB v DC:  Place for No.2

  • Pick yout wins
