How the F did Ashwin get selected in the T20 squad?

Possibly some peace offering :) Seriously reason he was picked due to absence of Sundar. If he were to be available Ashwin would not have made the squad. At least that is the explanation they gave. Like for like spinners who can bowl inside powerplay. After seeing the IPL i think Arshdeep has a case. Ashwin is 35. Wasn't a live wire on the field even at 25. He sure can bat. But not T20 style batting. His T20 bowling is at best on par with other spinners. Given the fact any spinner can go for runs in a t20 format he is no exception. I do not think he will feature in XI. Jadeja will be playing.

Yea why the F did we pick him, lets bowl left arm spinners n Leg spinners to WI n ENG who have so many lefties so they can balls in their arc

Knowing Kohli-Shastri, we will play almost the same bowling attack throughout the tournament. Their preferences will be Bumrah, Bhuvi, Shami, Jadeja, Chahar (they would want Chahal). May drop Shami for Varun in one off game if Hardik gets fit to bowl. Better we replace Ashwin with Shardul Thakur, will be a better choice as the 3rd seamer.

shardul shud come in place of one of SLA 

U need every kind of bowler, its all about matchups n opposition. Ull get every sought of diff batsman with diff strength n weakness so better have all areas covered

Ashwin is on merit, his ipl numbers over the last three years are very good, he was at his best with the bowl while captaining Punjab, as long as he does not mess around with his action he would do a good job.
