Chakdephatte Posted October 10, 2021 Posted October 10, 2021 (edited) Ruturaj Gaikwad is one guy who finds gaps with ease in middle overs. He starts slowly but covers it later in 7-15 overs. Even in that innings of 101*, he was striking at less than 100 in first 25 balls. This 7-15 overs phase is the one in which most Indian batsmen suck. Many can take advantage of powerlays (which he doesn't), but everyone atarts tuk-tuking after that. Suryakumar is the only exception I can think of. He is equally brilliant against spin and pace, a trait required to be a middle overs batsman. Not talking about this match, or IPL, just saying he would be a perfect 3-4. Your thoughts. Majestic Posted October 10, 2021 Posted October 10, 2021 I think powerplay helps him get going initially. After being set, it becomes easier for him.
bowl_out Posted October 10, 2021 Posted October 10, 2021 Need to bring him into the ODI setup first sorak 1
vvvslaxman Posted October 10, 2021 Posted October 10, 2021 He needs those deliveries to get set. He is not totally useless in power play. He looks to attack them like he did against Rabada. raki05 1
YixingLao Posted October 12, 2021 Posted October 12, 2021 Great point there. However, there might be other reasons why he is not in the top order batsmen. Maybe her is much comfortable playing at his position right now.
neel roy Posted October 12, 2021 Posted October 12, 2021 The one thing which i have seen in ruturaj is his calmness. He is never flustered in pressure situations.. thats called temperment and in many cases it beats talent and flamboyance. Also we call it mental toughness antithesis of the commonly used icf term mental midgetry ( rahane anyone).. players like nitish rana is prime example of midgetry.. even devdat paddikal seems to have flamboyance but not temperment. Ruturaj is one who is much better equipped to handle mental pressure.. Chakdephatte 1
