Define roles.

Every player should be assigned a role. There should be 1 Anchor in Rohit Sharma. Kohli should only come early if we are chasing a small target. There should be only two wickets with a price tag- Rohit and Pant, the rest have to play selfless. The top three should be-

 

Rohit: Anchor

Ishaan: Go berserk, don't care about wicket

Pant: Should do what he did vs. Pakistan. He needs time to set, so bring him early. Once he gets set, he will be dangerous.

 

If we are chasing <130, bring Kohli early. KL, Kohli, Pandya should be floaters. Send him depending on the matchups(tough task for this TM).

 

If Ashwin is playing, bring him in the powerplay with Bumrah. If Chakravarthy is playing, bowl him in middle overs with Thakur and Jadeja. We will be short of a death over bowler in any case, apart from that, we have the squad to win the tournament, even with so many selection blunders.

 

Bhuvi(if playing) should complete his overs before death. Shami(if playing) was good at death in IPL. These two should not play together, ever.

The strategy should be based on the situation and opposition. That's why too many ifs.

 

For eg., If the target is short, send Kohli. If batting first or chasing a big target, send KL at his place. Want another example, If playing against associates, play Shami, they wouldn't be able to face pace(moat probably), so better option than Bhuvi in such a case.

The moment the fate is out of your hands, the team probably does not deserve to go through. NZ/Afg probably deserve it more based on who does better from here.
