I'm going to be honest, since the advent of T20 cricket, which I completely agree is not real cricket, I don't watch 50 over cricket anymore. In fact I get up for the T20 WC even though I know it's meaningless in the grand scheme of things, but I don't even watch much of the 50 over competition, even when England and NZ served up that gripping final at Lord 2 years ago, I watched about 10 overs in total. If 50 overs cricket is scrapped, I'd not bat an eyelid to be honest.

T20 cricket is a dopamine hit. we tune in when the stakes are introduced (money, WC trophies). bilateral 50 overs have lost their appeal. i do want a 50 over WC though and i'm not sure you can do away with that format in that case. test series struggle to get warm ups now which is overlooked and very damaging to the sport. three ODIs before the tests ticks those two boxes.

Why would that be if teams are evenly matched? I would say an ODI league between top 6 cricket playing team would give similar results today

speed_thrills Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Teams play to win. If a win in a format is not worth, simply dont play it. Why to play and then look like a fool. Clarke, Frustrated and raki05 3
Frustrated Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 I pity the fools who celebrated India' T20 WC win in 2007. Including Yuvi, Dhoni & Co. raki05 1

vvvslaxman Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Yes the result of this format are not meant to be taken seriously which is precisely why we shouldn't be playing washed up oldies. They are playing to stay relevant in IPL
raki05 Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Ya BCCi is fool who are playing their star boys in this format. Also created a league out of it which it wants to play for 6 months. They are also planning to curtailed the much celebrated 50 overs outside of wc to play more of this fool format
