bowl_out
There are so many alternatives to Rahane.. There weren't too many alternatives to Ganguly back in the day.. Plus Ganguly was captain, so got an easy pass. Norman, SRT100 and Vijy 1 2 Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Ganguly had no support except from Sanjay Jha those days. He would write article after article to defend him. Fans started a web forum ihateganguly.com and it became an instant hit. Later they changed it to cricketwatchdog.com. Eventually got dropped. He fixed his technique and did a decent job. Rahane never was kicked out like that. raki05 1 Link to comment

Vijy
Rahane's poor run of form is longer than Ganguly. In the latter's case, his form completely tanked. However, in the case of Rahane, it is becoming more clear that he only scores the bare minimum by playing a few so-called "critical" innings to save himself - in this respect, he reminds me more of late-career Azhar (with but a fraction of that fixer's talent). raki05 1 Link to comment
