Root seems broken... even before he got out, he was hit in the box by Starc 3 overs earlier.

English bowling & fielding was listless. There was a period when Robinson resorted to bowling offspin from his pacy stuff. Last 10 overs were entirely bowled by part timers Root & Malan.   Looks like 5-0 is inevitable.

Also, the English cannot play both Broad & Anderson if they have to develop bowlers.

they have no real backups. archer and wood are too fragile. Ollie is good, albeit a nasty fellow.

Archer is at best a 2 test man in a 4 match series.

Wood can play 3/5 but he will go for runs. Atleast he is exciting. He has no real skills. Ball comes onto bat perfectly.

Stone is quality. Stone can be their best bowler in red ball cricket but the boy just can't stay injury free.

Lol I have said this before. This aussue side is the second best Aussie team ever.

Smith

Warner

Labushagne

Green

Cummins

Hazlewood

Statc

Lyon

Star studded side. If we are not at our best in.2023 we can draw the series vs the at home imo. Which is equivalent to a loss in my eyes.

They absolutely crush every team barring india at their home. Ruthlessly crushed England and even drew there away 2 2.

Killed Kiwis away and slaughter them at home. Jamieson isn't doing ****. Aussies are used to playing tall bounce based players like him.

Crushed saffers away too. Sure they lost at home but if you look at the team saffer beat in australia was a weaker side without Cummins, hazlewood missed a game, no green for all rounder job, no Paine who was better than Neville, no labushagne who is a top batsman, no travis head. Way stronger now. The team that faced india would beat saffers of 2016. Infact with a weaker side they won in s.africa until that ball tampering incident happened in 2018. They may be cheats but with the players they have now they would beat every team barring india comfortably.

Did the English lose focus on test cricket in trying to develop their white ball team? This team is pathetic even in their own backyard, with Root plowing the lonely furrow in the batting line-up. Only Malan has been giving him support. With Anderson and Broad old and worn out, their bowling is also underwhelming.

They did.

Just like India did between 2011-2013. We found success in white ball and screwed up our red ball.

yeah. And We beat them twice with that GOAT bowling line up. Padosi's are still putting asterisk on those victories.. Would love to see them tour Australia for another tour full of memes.

Padosis with best prep, plus tour games vs shield sides for 2 games would still get pounded by neser and jhye let alone starc hazelwood and Cummins.

For them to draw in India is not easy. Lyon is fading whereas Ashwin and Axar are doing very well. On spinning pitches, our bowlers will outdo theirs. As for batting, Warner is mostly zilch outside Oz. Labu is untested in these conditions, and I do not feel he has the game to make bucket loads of runs. It will all come down to Goddy (Smith) in the end. If Goddy runs rampant, then they can draw or win the series.

On spinning and flat wickets our bowling would outdo theirs. On seaming tracks they are better I suppose. On bouncy pitches it's even.

we will probably give them the type of wkts that Eng played on. I expect Axar-Ashwin-Jaddu-Sundar to outdo them since all 4 of this new spin quartet can bat. pacers can be siraj + umesh/boom.

Yea on bouncy 2ickets our attacks are very even. Infact slight edge to india given how aggressive we bowl when on song.

On spin tracks and flats we are better.

On seaming tracks they are better. They swing more.

They won't get them in India. as I wrote before, the real contest will be Smith/Labu vs Indian spin trio/quartet. this will decide the series. Warner will be a non-entity versus Ashwin in Indian spinning conditions.

What is even the point of this series?. This is like their 11th loss in the last 12. That Melbourne pitch in 2017 were cook scored a 200 doesn't count.

Looking back at their history in the last 30 years or so, england must have lost atleast 25+ tests in Australia. So much hype for a useless one-sided affair.

it's because of so-called history, not because of quality.
