How do you know he is focussing on 6 pack  and not match fitness.

Because he looks like a million bucks physically  in photo shoots and ads but can’t seem to last one whole match. That may not be true but you can  deduce what’s in front of you

He is highly injury prone than any one else in the team. I don't have to live with him to know that.  Shami was like that. But he went through a routine and re-habilitated himself to withstand the rigors of fast bowling in tests. He doesn't exactly have "six pack". But he rarely dips in his  intensity, energy while bowling. He is much older than pandya.

Back injury is just terrible for a pacer it's basically very very rare that a bowler returns bowling full steam after that.  Pollock suffered that & he was never same..  Lost a lot of pace & end was nigh eventually.  There's a reason Pandu rarely bowls these days & when he does he doesn't steams in like he used to.  Doesn't puts a lot of effort into his back.  He has seen writing on the wall.

It's not rare anymore. Only rarely bowler will not come back after back injury. Aaron, Umesh, Bumrah, CumminS, starc, Mitch Johnson, Lee all suffered multiple back stress fractures in their careers.

Why do you think he is injury prone. He had no fitness issues before his back injury. He is one of the fittest in Indian team still.

IN cricketing terms fit means if you have give 100% most of the match then you are fit. And you don't go missing for prolonged periods with injuries. Not sprinting for short distances. Flexed muscles don't mean you are fit.   Pat cummins was more injury prone than him. But after his come back he is one of the hardest working bowler. He is still fresh, energetic every match. He fields well. He even bats when needed to. Bowls loads of deliveries.

Only village idiot will say six packs aren't an indication of strength. Six packs indicate a strong core that is required for fast bowlers and help bowl fast. Rectus Andominis help generate pace. Lot of pace comes from abdominal muscles.

So, Cummins missed 5-6 years of cricket. Pandya is still playing and still has 5-6 years if taken care well. Pandya underwent a back surgery and it can take long time to come to bowling like before after a back surgery but they have consistently trying to get him back to bowl prematurely. Even as a batsman, he can be great asset.

6packs don’t equal core strength. Having a strong core might result in 6 packs. Those are 2 different things. Don’t mix them up

Pandya as a bowler has bowled 700 overs in 5 years. Cummins has bowled 1791 overs in 4 years.  Cummins suffered a stress fracture when he was 18. Pandya is now 28 same as Cummins. Bumrah's stress fracture is minor.

Cummins had that when he was young and fragile. 18 year old. And he was a genuine fast bowler always.  He went to college after that. Finished degree. Then he came back. You can't possibly expect the same thing to happen with Pandya can you? HE is at best a second change bowler. May be he can try like Collin de grahomme. Atleast he has some skills.

lol we should play Hritik Roshan then.  Lahiru Kumara generates speed purely with his shoulders. Hit close to 150 kph.

To get six Packs, you will have to work your ass off. Pandya has the lean muscles like Mitch Johnson. This how athletes look like. Lean. You don't get lean with muscular structure without steroids. Pandya probably is an ectomorph and that is his body musculoskeletal structure which he can't do much about.

Don't talk about weight lifting if you haven't lifted seriously. My uncle was a power lifter who competed. I have trained with him for years. Dude doesn't have 1 pack but he can literally launch you up in the sky and tombstone /pile drive you If he grabs you. Please stop. Lol. 6 pack sign of core strength. Ok.

Johnson weigh 95 kilos at 188 cm. He is fairly muscular and lean.

Pandya is 75 kilos at 183 cm. He needs to bulk up to 80. Lean weight not flab.

You are completely wrong lol Six pack means you cut out essentials.  I remember the Actor Surya giving an interview about six pack. He had to cut out diary and so many things. He said he only looked fit. But he felt like he was devoid of energy. Didn't Brett lee the one who advised fast bowlers to stay away from gym?  I mean weight lifting.

Most nfl players and powerlifters and he'll some strongmen don't have 6 packs. Sure some do but most don't. There is a layer of fat around their abbs. Doesn't mean they don't have core strength. Infact they have elite top tier core strength. The added weight is just a layer of fat which conceals it. They have dense muscles with some fat around it.

Then there are fat guys or skinny guys who try to diet their way to a 6 pack. That's totally different

I cant believe pandya has fans. What's worse is they actually believe he is actually useful even if he doesn't bowl rofl.

Sure he is athletic. It's no use to me or bcci if that athleticism doesn't help you stay injury free or inhibits you from displaying the one useful quality he supposedly had, which is power hitting. You need strength and conditioning too which he clearly lacks. He relies on timing to connect his shots. Needs to fill out more to generate power without compromising his speed and reflexes.

Pandya hardly relies on timing, he is all power and brute force, he does not lack strength infact it's his power hitting technique that needs a change, going back deep in the crease ain't helping ATM, when on song pandya can hit at will against anyone.

Brett Lee lifted weights but he never went overboard. He mentioned not to make gym a priority. He talked about building strength and condition for sport specific reasons. Build maximum strength, conditioning and power for your sport. Be an athlete not a power lifter or a body builder.

Why go there. Our very own Shami found a desi training that enabled him to stage a strong come back. Once he was beset by several injuries.
