There is a propaganda from both boycott and nonboycott gangs.

Same way Shikara was?

KP Genocide and story was the focus on marketing and trailer but the damn movie was about a love story.. audience ko chewtiya banane me Bollywood number one to hai. Same thing has happened to this Tatti Astra. Saved myself 10 bucks to avoid watching it in cinemas

No wonder KJO got KRK arrested.... he knew this film is going to fail after the 1st weekend

I was talking about propaganda going on social media, not the film. Negativity spreads faster but there is a time when negativity stops working and backfire effect comes into play.

What is Film Companion’s review? Most probably 5/5. Most relevant for me is Taran Adarsh’s

Sabse bada BKL hai wo , usse acha KRK hai

Never take these names srsly- taran adarsh, komal nahata, rohit jaiswal, sumit kadel....................they have no iota of sense of film making .

IIRC, I came across the "renaissance/re-awakening" post in the Laal Singh Chaddha thread.

Where ICF ( not you in particular) lock, stock and barrel declared that Aamir Khan was anti national and anti Hindu.

Who is going for a narrative? The narrative building has been happening since the suicide/murder of Sushant Singh Rajput. An entire industry has been vilified and accused of things far greater than its reach. Not fair to call this as a reaction to the barbaric beheading crimes. This narrative building has been going on for long.

The better question is: Who is gaining from this? The payment hierarchic are very skewed top down. The Akshays and the Aamirs don't take much of a hit. The camera crew and spot boys may simply miss out on their bonuses which in many cases is 50-100% of the agreed salary.

Pick one argument. You say these boycott campaigns in SM work  and are lamenting that crew is impacted. OTOH, you also say they don’t work and only the film content drags the film down or up. And it’s all bravado on SM .

I think the negative narrative of Bollywood  started after 2014 when people started voicing our non-PC opinions in India in general. The PK, OMG  movies were kind of a trigger to see through their hypocrisy. Maybe you don’t agree, but the anti-Hindu slant of Bollywood is more visible now than ever. And with some political will people talk about it more openly now.

Their reviews will reflect the pulse of the audience. You can gauge a movie will be hit or flop based on their reviews. I am not saying they are intellectuals like Baradwaj Rangan or Anupama Chopra. BR , I find him too earnest and will show and tell more than what even the makers intended to. AC is just a faux reviewer, liberal hypocrisy unlimited.

pulse of the audience ?? They have been proven the most wrong in history ...................he rated satymev jayate and said chak de india wud bomb . Actually someone shud chexck their history itni galat niklegi na. Their previous generation trashed sholay...............biggest commercial hit ever

Audience ki pulse to tu theatre chala terko pata chal jayegi if audience isnt enjoying the movie or not .

Intellectual ?? They have studied cinema and seen cinema like anyone...........inke jaisi chapri nhin hai.

A critic job is critic the film not finding the pulse of the audience, anyone who thinks he can is an audience. Till date no one has figured what audience wud like

Komal nahata review men puri story bata deta hai, basics- ur not suppose to do it, that BC gives away plot points of story .

They all shud be send to NY for film critic course and thats a genuine course which anupama, bardawaj have done and everyone in hollywood...............ye saale to ticket collection ginti karte hai .

First of all they are BO analysts and not critics. AC is very ideological and a campy reviewer. Read her review of Rocketry. She ‘s just a foreign educated journalist specialized in film journalism. 99 out of 100 times, I disagree with her views on a movie.

They are catering to an audience of theirs however low on quality their work is. They are doing it because of a market. Even big stars attend the talk shows of Komal Nahata or Rajeev Masand and give their films promotion.

TFS. Yes his narrative lets me decide that I will watch the movie in my home theater, not gonna spend on quirky dialogues, inane emotional love story even with dazzling SFX. The experience will not be worth it.
