India conceded 348 in first test with ATG bowling attack, Bangladesh conceded 328.

India was bowled out for 165 and Bangladesh is 87/1.

Guess NZ underperforming, especially their bowlers....

i did watch the match briefly since it was on ESPN. One thing i noticed was the swing that Shorif got. He was not lucky to get more. One particular ball was shaping away from the bastman from the hand after passing the bat it started going the other direction. McMillan was like "I have never seen a ball like that"'  . He was the best bowler for them. Remember CDG was bowling well against us. Just little bit of nibble. Indians were unable to replicate that swing. We could see the same at Kanpur test. New zealanders were able to extract big swing. Indian seamers were unable to. We have an all condition unit. But it would be nice if we have someone like Zaheer in our side.

That's the biggest issue with NZ wickets! It's a triple whammy is some ways, much more juicy track on the first day or so then gets flatter on day 2-3 & doesn't deteriorate much on days 4-5, so batting first can be a massive *ing disadvantage :whack:

Our 3rd innings batting was shambolic too. How does that get justified?

It doesn't we batted horribly & bowled horribly, I always put the blame on both sides because you don't lose games that easily by just being bad in one discipline. Case in point WTC final, sure our batting was diabolical but you remember we had NZ for 7(8?) under 200 at one point, our bowling let us down again much like the Eng 2018 tour with Curran!

both were problematic (e.g., boom's bowling), but the batting was the bigger culprit in WTC final.

Bowlers have saved us time and again both with ball and bat. High time batting is held responsible. They cannot restrict opposition under 250 everywhere just because our batting sucks. Without our bowlers we would be a 5th ranked test team. But without batsmen we still are no.1 ranked.

Bowlers did that only post Lords, the tails batting was a big issue for at least 3-4 years & one of the biggest reason why we lost 4-1 in 2018. Jadeja/Ashwin are not just bowlers & don't count among the tail anyway!

That's debatable, I'd argue all 3 facets were lacking - batting/bowling/fielding at various times & you can apportion blame depending on your preference.

Both Thakur and Sundar were picked as bowlers. So technically they are bowlers first.  Ashwin only recently found his touch still not as good as he used to be. OnlY Jadeja has improved his batting. But for Thakur/Sundar partnership  that series win would not have happened.  Our bowlers bowled opposition 12 times under 200 in 2021. The difference between batting and bowling in 2021 was. Bowlers occasionally failed. Batsmen occasionally succeeded.

forget that. Bangladeshs will give tough fight when they tour us. Certainly wont be pushovers like SENA teams they can play spin

it will depend on the pitches they get. if we give them pitches where reverse swing comes into play, then I can see them doing badly. We should be careful not to give them pure turners since it can backfire.
