Should have been punished. He might have done it unintentionally,but he did it.

 

There was a similar incident with Dravid in Aus,where he accidently spat the gum on the ball while rubbing it. Was still punished.

I agree but remember this is still at a time when ACB and ECB were running the show.Mike Denesss was  a tool to implement racisct verdicts. There was always one set of rules for white players ( mainly England and Australia) and one set of rules for other countries.Whole ICC setup was racist. Speed was an idiot there was no need to escalate that situation..

If you had a similar video of a white player doing something and getting away,you'd have a point. The charge of excessive appealing may have been too much,but SRT was caught doing it on video.

Anyway ball tampering issue was blown out of proportion by the Aussies.It isnt ideal but relatively a minor offence

Dravid had a lozenge in his mouth , used the saliva to shine the ball, it was in the 2003-4 tour of Aus in a tri-series ODI against Zim. Steve Buckner reported it and Dravid was charged of ball tampering and he accepted the sentence.

Michael Slater abusing Rahul Dravid and Umpires in India, Ricky Ponting slamming Aleem dar nothing happened. I am not talking about just SRT issue , if it was just SRT incident then I don't think it would have been big deal. he suspended like half the team. And then Speed  revoking test status to third match.It was one giant mess.

 

Whole England team were using lozenges during 2005 Ashes and noone did anything.It was called art then.  When England bowlers Harmission and Flintoff used short pitch bowling they were hailed as wonderful bowlers.

 

1980s WI bowlers were called Thugs and what not for using bouncers by English press and umpires. 

 

ICC always had two sets of rules for any issue. Ashwin recently pointed out correctly when asked about spinning wickets during England series.Who makes these rules.

Didn't Trescothick and his team publicly say they used lozenge during Ashes 2005.I don't recollect any England player getting suspended.

 No they are not bouncer in 1980s is same as bouncer in 2022.Did you see what MJ did 2013 Ashes. That is what accurate pace with bounce does to batsmen even today. 1980s WI had pace plus bounce and were relentless.They would put fear of god in any batsmen even today.

 

They score 450 plus in odis it is called great skill but when India scores 400 plus in odis decade earlier it is called abomination.

 

You are not getting main point  here, if they do it is it is art but if someone else does it it is cheating and thugary. Pakistanis were never caught by any umpires in 1992 series but it did not stop their umpires and press to slander them.
