The Indian Pace Bowling Pool need more Bounce Bowlers ... We suffered in South Africa 2022 because we could not use bounce as a weapon against ther top 6 batters

i think him and siraj had they played vs saffers, we would have won the series. no joke. legit serious.

Most probably yes.

Even Bumrah would look more dangerous when bowling with a bouncier pacer than him ( Prasidh )  and a skiddier pacer than him ( Shami / Siraj ).

This combo is the key.

The WI used

Marshall .. Short skiddy

Garner .. Very tall and very bouncy

Holding .. Inbetween

Roberts / Daniel / Davis .. Inbetween

exactly. but what we need in modern era is this:

at 8 skilful AR who can bowl 130-135 and has power hitting ability.

at 9 short skiddy who can hold and swing the bat  at 135-145

at 10 proper bounce based bowler who can also swing a bit   130-140 taller bowler can get away with 4 - 5 k less

at 11 fast or fast medium premier bowler who has pace and swing plus bounce.   137-145 and ability to crank it up from 140-150 when needed.

so its ideally in the future

8) hangerakar/mavi or thakur for now   backup (chahar)

9) siraj   backup (tyagi)

10)prasidh    (no current replacement avalaible)

11) bumrah     backup (shami, we need a new one here)

Chahar is a must in LOIs. Watch the game not the speed guns. Fantastic utility cricketer and has a higher upside than all the other filth we have tried in allrounder slots

It's ok if he is restricted to the all-rounder's slots at 7 or 8.

Problem is ... as we saw against NZ ... Bhuvi, Deepak and Harshal played together.

P.S - Having watched the match, Deepak's bowling was below par except the first 2 overs. And he could not be trusted in the slog overs either. Maybe he should aim for the batting  all-rounder's slot.

P.P.S - This thread is not for discussing utility cricketers.

is this for tests for ODIs? I would not trust this lineup in ODIs. batting is too flimsy, given that one also needs a spinner somewhere in the mix.

This line-up is for tests only, that too outside Asia.

We rarely play 4 pacers in ODIs.

Liked what i saw from Prasidh and he showed glimpses of how useful he might have been if he had played in the test series when he hit the splice of the bat on many occasions disturbing the batsman's timing. He looked sharper against England last year though and I'm not a fan of him spamming those slower balls which look like they need some work. Bouncers and yorkers may be a better default death option.

Ok, that makes a lot of sense. I would not have gone with this team in ODIs.

yep, both he and siraj were brought into the fold too late. siraj lost 2 good yrs of his test career, and the same has happened to prasidh too. next, it will happen to tyagi and Hangu.

Amarnath was right long ago when he called the selectors a bunch of clowns.

To be fair to the selectors, they have often included Siraj and Prasidh in the squads ... but all the TMs have ignored them for Ishant and Umesh and Bhuvi, when it came to playing 11 selections.

Prasidh dismissed 2 batsmen with steep bounce in the 1st ODIs, And Holder was a well set batter.

He is s good candidate for a bounce bowler  (  he is the bounciest well known pacer in India now )

Bowled a bit below his full pace though. Would be happy if he starts bowling at his full pace with quickest balls above 90 mph.

LOI fast bowling is all about bounce bowling these days. Seam and swing are miniscule. Bowling hard lengths, getting bounce is the key along with Yorkers as surprise delivery.

Steep bounce ( at sharp pace and with accuracy )  was always a potent weapon in ODIs.

Garner and Ambrose are good examples.

Prasidh ( with his steep bounce at pace )  should play most test matches and ODIs for India from now.

And he has genuine wicket taking ability.

more suited for Tests as of now.In LOIs death bowling is crucial part for specialist pacer. He isnt there yet imo. Still Good.

Tyagi,Umran and Mavi seem better option for LOIs

You don't need him to bowl at death. Bumrah and Siraj can do that. Even he isn't that bad at death
