Having dhawan, rohit, Kohli, KL and Shreyas as 5 out of your top 6 esp in LOIs is just asking for disaster lol. At max only 2 of them should be there. Ideally Rohit (captain) and Kohli (even though he’s not the batsman he once was he’s still unbelievably consistent. At his worst he’s still a better no.3/4 than Iyer/KL. He may have lost his ability to score quickly, but he’s still very good at accumulating runs and dropping sheet anchor)

Unless they strengthen 5/6/7 they ain't wining anything.  Right now none of them are reliable. We used to make fun of Kedar Jadhav. Looking back he played in one of the most difficult batting position. His career strike rate is over 100. Jadeja at no.7 has a strike rate of 94. It is not enough. Basically he scores 23 runs in 25 balls on an average.

Jadhav was very good for a couple of years (2016-18) but then was past it.

1. Shaw --> inconsistent opener who scores at 120 SR

2. Kishan/Pant (wk) --> inconsistent opener who scores at 120 SR

3. Gaekwad --> should be capable of both attack and defense, based on the context

4. Gill/Rohit/Virat --> this is the designated consolidator, who will tuk-tuk if early wkts fall. And will bat down the order if a big partnership occurs at top

5. KLR/SKY --> I do not like KLR as opener, but I do think he has done well at No. 5

6. Pandu/Sundar --> both are batting ARs, who can fulfill 6th bowler option

 

Another option:

1. Shaw

2. Rohit/Dhawan --> senior opener, there to tuk-tuk. Rohit can also captain

3. Gaekwad

4. KLR/Kohli --> consolidator in case of early wkts.

5. Pant/KLR (wk)

6. Pandu/Sundar
